What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

We will get the engine/trans in tomorrow. Ran into issues.

Oil feed to turbo made with AN fittings will not fit the compression fitting on the ATT turbo. New line and block fitting on order from Leroy.

Bent one of the transmission cooler lines. New pair are on order.

Will assemble as much as possible but can’t complete and run this weekend.

Where'd you order the transmission lines from?

A question for you guys with 4l80e :
I never noticed one in my trucks or ones I worked on, but in hummers and hmmwvs there is a small bypass valve inline of the transmission cooler line. The valve is a bypass valve that if the fluid id to thick to flow (I guess from temperature?) the bypass valve just send atf back to the trans avoiding the cooler.

I am under the impression these were not on pickups, I know they aren’t in the Rolls Royces & Jaguars that use the 4l80e. They might have been in pickups and I just never paid attention. They never seem to fail in hummers/hmmwvs so maybe they are in pickups & because I never replaced one I just don’t remember them.

It ties into the two lines within a foot of coming out of the transmission

Not there on my install. Never has been.

If anyone has seen it in anything where part numbers can be looked up outside of hmmwv/hummer -please let me know. It would be good reference for guys if they ever need to replace one and want to keep it stock. For me it is more of knowing and sharing the knowledge. I’m gonna post it on the transmission thread too.

Yesterday I took my first voyage in my 96 gmc truck with the 6.2/DS4 since using the ford diesel Sparta brand lift pump and diesel rx fuel pressure regulator.I put maybe 60-70 kilometres on the truck and the fuel pressure was perfect under load. The Sparta pump puts out 43psi so that’s the reason for the regulator.

I have one of those electric fuel pressure gauges on the A pillar and it showed 9-10psi under load.I have the transducer for the gauge with a snubber right at the injection pump inlet. The engine ran beautifully with no leaks anyplace.I have to say I’m very happy with the way everything turned out.I’m also using a dual fuel filter setup.

At idle fuel pressure is showing 13psi.

I finally got enough other poorjects (not a miss spelled word ) out of the way that Sunday I was actually able to get the truck into the garage on Sunday afternoon, and run a engine dying test on it.
Then yesterday at dinner, lunch time, she starts babbling about the Buick making a noise on a left turn.
Guess I better get this attended to before ripping into the truck.
I am however going to put that facet pump back on and see if the FP varies after stepped up idle for a half hour or so running time.

Since I had a drop dead time to leave BigT’s Sunday and worked right up to it, I just threw my tools in the truck, showered and left. No time to tidy up. 635 and his bride are here now so he watched as I cleaned, reorganized and prepared for the return trip to finish BigT’s truck Thursday.

After the much needed washing I put new 4x4 decals on the quarter panels. Chris (the guy I crew for and did Bill’s transmission with) took my interpretation of OEM and did a test run in flat black and red vinyl. He’ll do them in Gloss black and a little smaller for when I finish getting the truck painted.

It really surprised me as to how much work he had to do.

There’s a learning curve to applying the vinyl and I still need to learn it but, they look real good from 10’

Very nice! I had my daughter make decals that closely resembled the OE hood decals on her Circut machine almost a couple years ago. they are still holding up. I would like to borrow that machine from here and see if I can make some for the black truck and some to put on the tail gate to add a little pizzazz! Mine only has the "6.5 Diesel Turbo" but yours looks better LOL

Yeah, those decals looks mighty nice.
I’d like to get some of those that fits the grooves of the hood.
The hood on my truck has some waverly action going so its not worth the cost of the decals.
I gots lots of bigger concerns right now, like a mighty expensive lifting pump.
