Wow... do you think a can of this will work?

LOL... thought of that, but honestly, it looks like there's only 6 cylinders left :D

:smilielol5: Jim does have a point there.

That's the most impressive failure i've ever seen.

Very impressive Chris. Going big is and understatement. I've never seen the maincaps snap right off like that.:eek:

Well i have an update on the build. I came across a heck of a deal for now. I traded a rear end i had out back at a buddys house for a 1997 chevy 6.5 3/4 tun. The guy told me the engine was replaced in 2001 with a brand new crate long block straight from GM. Since then he has put 300,000 km on it, when i went out to pick it up i fired her up and it ran real smooth with no smoke or knockin. So got it home pulled the engine trans and t-case out at once, good old torch ( new personal best). But anyways the trans has 40,000km on it and was rebuilt with heavy duty parts from what he told me. So far i have the drivers side swapped out with the injectors from the old engine and the head studs. Tomorrow i will be doing the other side and getting the turbo off the old enigne ready to put on and hopfully sand blast the headers. Do you guys think i should replace the rear main engine seal since the motor is sitting on the floor? Also is there anything else you guys can think of to fix and or change? The olny leaks i seen were the oil lines

Well we got the engine in tonight!! Just half to modify the motor mounts to make some room for my second block heater then plug everything in. Im so excited to start driving this truck. Oh yeah i was putting in the new glow plugs and one snapped off in the head caues i over torqued it..... got it out with some screwin around. Also i found out this is the 506 block..... So with the mods that are done to it do you guys think it will last that long? I want to get at least a year or so out of it and don't plan on driving the piss out of it eather. I will post some pics of it tomorrow, Man im excited!!! Gonna be parkin the duramax and start drivin the 6.5!!

LMAO!!!
I tried that stuff in my mustang, didnt help any with the oil issue....
Bring on the pics, i love pics, its like another world the first time it fires up, been there done that!

DZZ71, drive that 6.5. It knows the road better.

Truly awesome devastating pics... It makes cast iron look like plastic. I am surprised at the lack of material in the main webs.

Keep us updated.

Thats got to be a first.....

Yeah i like to use my duramax for work olny, It's such a pain in the ass pulling my skid out everytime i want to haul somthing. So im goin to fully rig it up with my tools so i dont' forget anything and feel stupid on the job site anymore and just park it at a buddys farm when im not workin. As for the progress tonight we got motor monts done trannie bolted up oil cooler in there and i had to extend a bunch of wires It sure is a mess under there. And on the 1995's the alternator is loctated on the drivers side and the AC is on the passenger. Now the 1997 i pulled the engine out of has it opposite to that so there was more screwin around. Then the harness on the pressure sender is different from the 1995 harness.... More fabin there. But everything is plugged in now. Whats left is the intercooler pipes, inner fenders, radiator, extend the alternator cable to reach the other side of the engine, couple grounds, batterys, ect. I forgot my damn camara again i will for sure have it for tomorrow. Oh yeah i swapped head liners from the doner truck so now i have the compartments up top, Looks pretty slick i think

The 506 should be ok. Keep an eye on oil pressure and coolant temp as well as EGTs.

I never once had issues with overheating, so I am sure that you will be ok there...might want to blast the rad out to make sure it is perfectly clean. It was about a year or so ago that I did it last.

You will be pleasantly surprised with its get up and go...it won't compare to your tuned DMAX, but it will embarass quite a few stockers out there...

BTW - got the new hood and bunch of other parts for the sled....that thing runs pretty decent....hope you are just as happy with the truck!

You should probably turn the boost down a few psi as well. I found that the ISSPRO gauge was off by about 3 psi at max boost (the gauge was reading 15, but actual boost shown on a scanner was 18 psi). You saw what happened to the last engine....

You traded a rear end for the whole truck??!?!?! I would die for the interior of that truck to be put in my 94 style.... Thats a load right there to be pulling out. My engine lift tabs were bending under the stress of just the engine....
