As of 2:30 PM he has not taken the truck to the tranny shop to get looked at nor has he returned my call. Probably see it back on ebay. I'm smelling a scammer.

When you Paypal him use a credit card not debit or transfer from checking account. If you need to dispute the charge it is alot easier to call your credit card company and go through them first than to mess with Paypal.

Great advice. I buy online with my Bank of America card, and 2 times I needed to dispute a purchase, (once for my damn Jardine exhaust that they never made!?!?! ARGH... soon.... very sooon...) and once for vehicle lettering that never came.

Both times they credited the money instantly to my account, and then did all the dirty work themselves. Can't ask for better service than that. 3-4 months down the road on the exhaust too... INstant credit.

When you use a credit card, the onus is on the vendor to prove that you ordered the product. If you dispute the charge saying that the product was never delivered or the service not rendered, it is up to the vendor to prove that you DID receive the product or service. The credit card company is given a set time to respond. If they do not, then a charge back is initiated, and the vendor has to eat the charges.

It gets hard if the product HAS been delivered, but the vendor has problems proving it. In any event, the system is designed (by law) to favor the consumer.

Paypal HATES it when you use a credit card. I do anyway. It allows me to go to the CC company and dispute the charge, in which case PayPal has to prove that the service was rendered. They hate that, and it is hard for them to do.

Good luck,

Rob :)

In fact, one of the key scenarios is if you DIDN'T order anything, then the vendor must prove that you did. The only acceptable proof (to my understanding) is either a fax of your signature, or that you admit in a statement to the CC company that you DID receive it.

Yep. I have reversed charges many times. even when paypal said they could collect the money I reversed it to them. It's now 4:30 est. He never showed up at the tranny shop or call me. He'll probably try to stick somoeone else with it.Unfortunatley ebay no longer lets others see the bidders identities so I can't even warn some poor sucker.

Well, 9:24 estpm No call. I guess that is that. Shame. It's a nice truck other than the tranny but not worth 7k and needs a tranny. Especially if the planetary is toast. OK That's two tranny issues in a row. I need to find a junk 4l80e to dissect.

It was a fun couple of days though Kenny.....

Same, she is willing to "try" it. I still think in the end the guy is not going to accept an offer of 5k which is all I'm willing to pay. Matt at Champion Transmissions said he could rebuild it with a new planetary and some upgrades for a little over 2k. I know he will build it right.
