A-Team turbo on board

"How about a test with it on a manual trans? How did it do?"

Slim"s is a 5 speed manual! It should work on mechanical pump too. You might not get the results a "chipped electronic" would get, but the cooling of intake air and exhaust should be the same

Thanks mudbath!

Sorry about not posting guys but my other half toasted the computer and it has taken me two solid days to recover everything and get it back to something close to normal. I was lucky.

I have a five speed with 4.10 gears in my truck, the turbo has no lag at all with a five speed, Boost while towing remains smooth and goes up and down according to the fuel rate. I would be interested in having input from someone running the turbo with a mechanical pump. Most all of us have made some mods prior to getting a new turbo. I have run the ATT turbo with the stock program prior to Heaths Hp-4. Max boost with a stock chip was 10 ~11 psi at WOT. The fuel mileage gains remained a plus with the stock chip, the real performance gains were with a new chip and a -1.94 TDC offset. I would recommend the 1.94 tdc offset or a little advanced timing with a mechanical pump or electric DS-4 with or without a chip. Remember everything within reason.

I think this will be a excellent replacement for our poor gm -8, and since the ATT has the added benefit of improved fuel mileage and less stress on our motor it should make it live longer. I personally believe that the gm -*turbo boost at lower rpm adds to the demise of our block, lugging a motor at low rpm has never been good for them, time will tell.

Turbine Doc and I have had discussions on this speculation. Turbine Doc has really been the driving force behind me keeping this turbo going, I was going to let the turbo die after the place and page guru's poo pooed it three years ago, he said get me one and I will run it and give you my opinoin. The rest is history and if there is one person that is responsible for the ATT turbo surviving, it is him, Thanks my friend.

I didn't know you had pc problems last few days or would not have bothered you- All I can say is that great achievements have always been derided and poo-pood at first. Time always tells and It looks like this one will be a good leap for 6.5ers.

Yeah she crashed it bad, had to slave the drive to another to recover the data I needed and I was lucky to be able to do that. My fault for not backing up the drive, think I will learn?

I needed a break yesterday, that is why I called, was hoping to get my mind on something different. Yeah little problems along the way, but the 6.5 group here, and you,):h have been especially helpful.

Dennis, sorry about your PC problem. Luckeley you succeed in the data backup.

I did meet the same troubles a while ago, and now I have 2 backups---

Well guys, I'm sorry but I haven't been able to do the test I was willing to.

It's been raining here till friday afternoon, and during the all week-end because of a little tropical storm cruising offshore along New Caledonia. Lot of rain, so---

Only thing I can report at the moment is that, driven smoothly, as a daily driver does, the truck engage the 3 first speeds in less 100 meters. I can then keep the truck running at 1000~1100 rpms very easely without any stumbling, and the truck responds very easy when I push the pedal.
I really feel a lot of torque available, and available at low speed :D:D

Geez, I really think I get a winner underhood :nanawrench:

Just getting my computer back together, thanks for asking. I to think my truck is better and more responsive. Lets keep the info coming, I like the fact that this information is from independent sources.

Quick update:

for same driving conditions, milage has improved: I went from 13 MPG with the previous GM-5 to a close 15 MPG with the ATT.
My usual driving conditions are in city, in traffic...

I didn't test it for towing yet, just some road test.
I get about 12 PSI at WOT, EGT never reach 1050° F, engine temp never went over 197°F.
Top speed has been achieved at 125 MPH (cluster reading)

Did you have enough space. You are lucky you didn't run off your island at that speed.):h

I figured a little over 100, 125 is surprising. I drove a 1981 chevy 2500 with a 6.2 th400 and it would top out at 58. It would pull like a tractor though.

My speedometer stops at 160 km/hr.....but I have been to the REV limiter many times.....speedo is useless at that point.....gotta love gravel roads!
