A-Team turbo on board

I just found out I've got one about 5 miles from the house. Need to stop by and see if they mind running diesel trucks. http://www.performanceautosport.com/dynojet.asp

After taking a good look at the pics I don't know if a dually would fit the roller.

There is another one it town but not as convenient. Couple more in the state hour or two away.

I'd thought about checking into making a couple dyno runs after I get the new motor broken in and ATT installed.

There is a guy with a dyno about 3 miles from me but will only run cars. He said it wont hold up to the power of a pickup truck but they strap down 900hp drag cars to it. :rolleyes5:

Not quite ready to unload mine yet, but with 270,000 miles on the turbo I don't think I'd stick any of the forum members with it.

I wouldnt mind haveing a wroking turbo with that many miles. my GM1 has over 250,000 on it and still seems fine. I would just keep my old turbo for a backup.

Hey, does this mean I can take all these GM-8 turbos and go over to DP and sell them there? All they told me was I couldn't sell A-Team Turbos without a business license...

):h

If I can get one cheap, I'd like to compare performance, mileage, and backpressure to my GM4, before maybe someday going to the ATT. Or does anyone already have any comparisons like that?

Talk to NVMTNLION, he had GM-4 went to the 8, was impressed with 8 over the 4, not sure if he has any data,

Want a 8 cheap eh; what you got in firearms safe you willing to part with :D

Meet me in PM area if you wanna talk about it.

sure, as long as there is no progress or innovation for the 6.5, you can do whatever. OH yeah, and they get paid.---sorry,, worked for to many companies that stifle innovation and screwed me on ideas. read at the other place recently, same basic issues with nothing of tantalizing interest like the ATT. its nice to be home;)

When I was searching for dynos in my area I found reference to one in the state that had problems with a pickup. IIRC it was a Cummins and they broke the tiedown straps. Truck took out some fans and rear ended a Mustang that was in the shop before it could be stopped. Remember it isn't just HP its torque also even though that wouldn't be an issue with us.

The friend who was wanting to run his truck had a ford gasser with a mild build. I could see them not wanting to run a diesel but I would think they would just need bigger straps.

Ive only seen dyno runs on TV and always thought I would never stand in front of that thing.

400+ tq from a well set up 6.5 is force to be rekoned with, I think also possibly the way a Diesel builds torque all way up, as opposed to a gasser just hitting a peak torque then off of it.

I read diesel make the most torque at a idle, the higher rpms the lower the torque. I was kind of confused on that. Gassers have more torque at higher rpms.

I was meaning our torque doesn't come close to the torque produced by hyped up Duramaxes and Cumminses. And I'd say the peak torque for those 900hp drag cars is well over ours.
