A-Team turbo on board

Hey guys, read every post in this thread, and a bunch of other threads, and I must say I am quite impressed with Diesel Towing Resource. MUCH better technical information on here about upgrading things. Also I would like to add that I find it VERY handy that all of you kept your same user ID's, thank you for that.

Ok ..Chevyinlinesix,as to date this threads a bit heavy, heavy, Welcome and to your first post ,to true good tech info, counting myself out here ,change my ID from,from..?? age again..good to have you here ..

While this is a frustrating development, and it's obvious that Stew is reading over here as well, lets all take another deep breath and stop coordinating hassling the 'Place from over here.

I disagreed with what went down over there after the sale, and I resigned as a moderator and shortly after that, I stopped going all together. I am not saying people should quit going to the place, but it's the best way to show you disagree with the way it's being done over there.

Slim and the A-Team Turbo and it's discussions and sales are welcome here....

some pics for you guys :D

you know what? I'm happy ):h

BTW, It looks awesome!

How did you get your intake so clean? Did you bring it somewhere? Or is that paint?

Looks great.

But all the work and you are still running a Rubber intake hose? You do know that restricts air flow also.

It's paint. I found this paint at Fleabay, a seller from UK. This is high temp Gold caliper paint. Previously the intake was blue, and when I realized it was Ford blue, I changed my mind...
I also used stainless screws for the upper intake, like did Bill on his Bonneville racer :D

That's silicone. That's why the paint I put on it didn't grab.
Later on, I will try to see if I can replace it with siicone humps and a stainless joiner ;)

I agree, the best way is to stay away from there. The way I've seen new members treated over there lately is a disgrace to the place. Now after yesterday I see that it's not just new members that get treated like dirt over there but the very guys that built that place into what it was. I have had posts deleted and received nasty little PM's from mods over there in the last week or so myself. When I pointed out to the mod that his post about president Obama was much worse than anything I said over there he didn't even have the character to reply. I didn't vote for Obama and certainly don't agree with a lot of his directions but you don't have to be too smart to know that what his post said was over the line for a mod.

:hijacked: as an outsider-the thing I dislike there is an amazing failure to use the search function. do you think DTR member# in sig will help me over there?:drama: matuva, how long was your install time?? never mind, just saw-

Looks purrrrrrrrrty!

When you get a chance I would be interested in your observations on fuel economy. I can't remember which of the related threads I saw it in but I recall one report of a vehicle going from 15-17mpg up to about 20 with a best run of 22mpg. I could be wrong though. At the moment I don't have anything to tow but if we are talking about almost 25% increases in fuel mileage unloaded I could probably talk the wife into letting me replace my GM-4.

Well from now on here is the only place you can get an A-Team Turbo. Nick and you, and the rest of us are like family, much better here than over there, you think they know they are sliding into oblivion? Thank you to everyone for the support, it is amazing.

That was Turbine Doc, he has been the big lead here on accurate data. I went from 16.5, to ~ 18 to 18.5 consistently with my 4.10 five speed setup. I think Turbine Doc is running 3.73 gears and an auto.

I saw on other forum a question posed about ATT's origin with suggestion it was Chinese and that was possibly a negative, I posted this then deleted it as I realized in my post I mentioned several manufacturers that were not paid vendors there and I was not sure if that was kosher with new management there with all rukus the ATT thread there caused:

With over 12,000 miles thus far on mine, I doubt it's origin is an issue, FWIW I work for a large fortune 500 company lots of stuff for many big companies including one I work for are made in China, it's simple economics, what you have to be careful of is to hold them to rigid quality control, there is good made in China, and bad made in China, like good and bad India, Pakastan, Chek republic, Mexico, etc....and even good ole USA is not without it's junk manufacturing. At one time even the vaunted Japanese were once a producer of tin junk.

Last year before going on a job in Malaysia I went to Grainger to buy some slings, falls, shackles and assorted rigging gear, I thought about buying Harbor Freight as their price was right, but thought I had better get a known name just in case the 2 million dollar turbine I was working on dropped from a bad piece of lifting gear made in China.

I paid top dollar for Rigid company stuff, and lo and behold stamped right on the side of it was made in China, so the point is so long as object of your desires these days is quality built, and the company selling it stands behind it Rolls Royce-Siemens-GE-Rigid-Sears-Lowes etc. what is the issue. IIRC even Japan is moving some of it's manufacturing out of Japan.

Notice that manufacturing in USA is down, and now simple tasks are done overseas, not all of it is because of evil corps. greed, some of it is union worker productivity and built in overhead cost, since Sept 08 I now work in a large union Diesel locomotive repair shop so am well versed in this, I'm not anti union just some of the things they do are impediments to productivity which can drive up cost if not managed correctly, ask GM-Ford-Chry, but that is another topic probably best suited for P&R.

Hmmmmmm...... might be a little harder to sell the wife on it. But I want it!!! I am running 4.10's with a 4L80. If only Diesel was still $5 a gallon it would be so much easier!

For our 6.2, 6.5 community...

The members here are the best...you guys are testimonial to that...Tech content here in your very own forum is by far the best 6.2, 6.5 on the web...and I'm guessing that is what is scaring the pants off of them there...so they feel the need to use censorship as a means of damage control...

What you guys do on your own time is your business...we will not censor your links to other forums...and we won't ask you to walk on egg shells when it comes to sharing technical content...you guys are a tight knit community...and we get that...looks like that's something the other place will have to find out(or has) the hard way...

Thanks for everything...the support...the tech content...and for being good caretakers of your own home here...

You guys probably hardly know most of the staff here...because you guys are such a trouble free group...we are here for you though if you need us.

I know a handful of you...and I'd like to get to know more of you ...So if guys ever get the urge to poke around in some of our other forums Firearms off topic P&R etc...I'd be more than glad to talk with ya'll...:cheers2:

Thanks for lending me your ears(eyes)

Pepp

BTW: my name is Paul (either is fine by me)

This forum is so relaxing and refreshing. Kinda like the other used to be when I started after getting my first 6.5. Glad to know I still have a place to continue learning and help newbies when I can. I have been a journeyman mechanic for thirty years but only into diesels for the last year and a half. After the crap last night elsewhere, this is my new home. Now where can I buy this ATT, oh that felt goooood. Cheers
