I actually never posted an image of the P/S cooler, so I am going out now to take a shot and post it.

Need to know what pressure it is producing...@FellowTraveler Nice setup! I'm defiantly gonna have to try rearranging my oil and tranny coolers to fit one of those in there!
I'm a little nervous about disconnecting the HB and dead heading my pump! they use this gauge testing the big rigs and stetting pressures on equipment hydraulic pumps. at least my head won't be under the hood when it cranks up lol
Need to know what pressure it is producing...
Its all a crap shoot. JY parts can be as problematic as some of the remanned stuff.not really, just that it's been howling or whining ever since I flushed it and replaced hoses. supposed to be taking a family vacation trip the middle of next month to Rockport and I've got that dreaded thought in my head it's gonna fail while out there! I've been working to get all the bugs and kinks out before the trip it never was making this noise before. it's really been my luck with this truck. all the simple jobs have turned into a pile of sticks lately.
I'm still kicking my self for buying rebuilt junk, I'd have been better off picking parts from my local junk yard at this point lol
I think it has a very powerful spring within ots bounds
Yeah, thats a possibility.Makes me wonder if there's too much flow through the HB, creating a low pressure scenario which makes the pump growl
I run two filters on my P/S returns to pump low side...It's making noise for a reason. Bearings, new vanes in a worn cavity, PS line on something transmitting noise to the cab. I would put the filter I recommended in the return line of the steering box.
Your gamble and I have listed the stakes of a PS glitter debris bomb going off. It can make noise for a long time and sound like a whiny FORD. This is if the GM firecracker alternator isn't screaming and drowning it out...
Nitrogen gas under pressure... Debris in check valve, lost it's gas charge, INOP just to make you do the job again.
I can get some fittings to connect a gauge inline but I know we don't have a flow gauge here at work. I'll talk to one of the hodraulic shops and see if they have one possibly. what kind of pressures should I see with a gauge inline?Makes me wonder if there's too much flow through the HB, creating a low pressure scenario which makes the pump growl
Generally,1.2K to 1.5k or 1.7k+ p/s performance psi & 2.0k to 3.0k psi @ caliper...w/foot into it.I can get some fittings to connect a gauge inline but I know we don't have a flow gauge here at work. what about power steering flows and pressures. the PS pump is what's howling. I think the larger wheel cylinders on the brakes took care of the stopping problemGenerally,1.2K to 1.5k or 1.7k+ p/s performance psi & 2.0k to 3.0k psi @ caliper...w/foot into it.
