I always talk about using a sealer on the OD of the seal and around the bore where the seal goes into.Well out with the leaker and in with the new. Got the truck back together and praying there’s no more oil leak! It cleaned up nicely with the power washer. Used some sealant where the oil seal goes in this time. If it still leaks I would be curious if the lower part of the water pump back plate is to blame?

I always tell to fill the spring cavity of the seal with grease to keep that tensioner spring from bouncing out of its groove when driving the seal in.
I had several seals leak around the outside diameter of the seal before I smartened up and started applying sealer to those areas. I also had a couple of the springs bounce out of their grooves on the oil side of the seals, they leaked after getting the vehicle together, then, during the tear down process know for sure it was a bad seal, nope, spring had bounced out of the seals groove. Figured out that filling that spring groove with grease kept the seal in position..
