Purple cleaner/degreaser from Home Depot and a stiff brush. Scrub and wash down. You’ll fall in love again.I cleaned it up best I could with what I had here. Scraped off the gunk and wiped it all down. Looked good after that
I didn’t. It won’t come off if torqued properly.Do I need to use and blue thread locker on this? The bolt and crank threads are clean and look new. This is how the bolt looks as it came out of the crank

I have a tool to lock the fan hub and a wrench to fit it. They sell them at NAPA.On the fan hub nut. I use a big open ended wrench, slip thst over some flats so the wrench handle is accessible, beat that handle in an offwards direction with the 3 pound hammer, that nut will let loose.
Installation the same except in the opposite direction with the hammerin.
I have this one, which is adjstable:I need to invest into the tool for the water pump. I was using the biggest filter plyers I had on it to keep it from turning. I won’t use a hammer on the wrench when I have to reuse the pump
Well it’s all back together and running well. Yay it lives again lol
I had to grind a curve out on one leg of the scissor tool lock to get it to fit around the fan hub.Well on mine today, I got to tear down the front again. pulled the new HB off and power washed the front of the engine. the tool for the water pump pulley wouldn't fit. I had to modify it to get both pins into the pulley. also discovered that a 2" piece of PVC fits perfectly in the crank seal to keep water out of the engine while I washed off the front. letting it all dry over night before attempting round 2 on the front seal.
I tried grinding one side but it wasn't enough. ended up grinding both sides. after that it worked like a charm. I almost wanted to cut the hooks on the ends off but decided not to. I'm not sure when I'll ever need them but ya just never know LOLI had to grind a curve out on one leg of the scissor tool lock to get it to fit around the fan hub.
Probably get a better seal with a FluidampnerWell out with the leaker and in with the new. Got the truck back together and praying there’s no more oil leak! It cleaned up nicely with the power washer. Used some sealant where the oil seal goes in this time. If it still leaks I would be curious if the lower part of the water pump back plate is to blame?
