Resurecting New Engine

Well worked on the truck for a few minutes today. The crossover proved to be a bear still! The studs are a PAIN to use! I couldnt get the springs on and the nuts started to save my life. So im junking all those parts and going bolts again. Will pick them up tomorrow. The cross over looks very cheap to me. When hooked up to both manifolds where it crosses underneath the transmission its not even perpendicular to the truck! It goes at a strange looking angle. Tell you the truth so far i miss my 1 piece cross over!

Waiting on the steel 10an fitting to show up so i can have a friend atatch it to the old blockoff plate or i got a new chromie' unit that will be painted.

So i had a major blonde moment the other day. Tried to hook the pressure side up to the turbo and realize i forgot to take the brass male fitting off of my old GM-4 before i sold it! Ran to the junkyard quick and found a GM-8 in the back of a engine-less 6.5 truck. I bunged up the fitting pretty good while trying to take it off due to being heavily corroded, but its useable for now. Will have to keep my eyes out for a new one.

Got to work to see this. Its about a 3 year old exhaust. I sanded it good, wiped down with acetone, and 5 coats of high temp paint. F-salt...

Pictures of my temporary pipe repair. The exhaust was starting to melt my mudflap after it broke. I need to get one more lap clamp to replace the regular exhaust clap, i did not realize the rust expanded the tip and cracked it!

Did some work on the truck this weekend while i had some free time. Did an oil change, replaced what was left of the broken passenger side sway bar link. And did some test fitting with my rotating plow light.

Had a friend replace the cross member for me due to not having the tool to make this job even some what possible. The old cross member came out like swiss cheese and was way worse than i thought. This truck needs some serious frame coating due to heavy scale. I need to get it trhough 1 more winter so i can do it next year. My sending unit is shot also, hope it last through the winter...

I can fill my fuel tank now, if only i could afford too now that i had to pay someone to do the work.

Finally took my siezed front driveshaft to Fleet pride, said the only thing they can do is to rebuild it. The rebuild would be around $250... I cant afford that right now. Looking for other options.. Are the front drive shafts the same on all K2500-3500 with automatic transmissions between gas jobs and the 6.5 diesel? I know manuals would be different. Thinking about trying my local u pull yard...

No kidding, this truck is very crusty, hopefully she can hold together till next spring/summer where i can tear the box of and work on beautification. I got a sick deal on this tank 3 years ago from a friends shop. Paid $110 bucks shipped to me. Next tank is definitely going to be plastic though. One less re-occurring problem. I just went out and sprayed the shaft with PB-Blaster and will get some pieces of wood and try to beat on it later, its no go to me no matter what so might as well give it a try. I think it more seize because the truck sat for a long time this summer, when i took it out last winter to replace a u joint it was not seized.

Well went to the yard today. Their system says the front shafts are interchangeable on all 89'-95' K2500-3500 silverados and sierras. Unfortunately all they had was a 98' K2500 and a 99 K2500 burb. Gm changed the t-case in 96' resulting in a different shaft. Wonderful... on the lookout for a replacement for less than the $250 rebuild for my shaft. Let me know!

Picked up a front shaft today. Got home and realized its back words! Check it out.. Think someone just put it together back words, or should i run it like this? Shaft on the bottom is the new one.

Any 4x4 I've owned had the slip yoke towards the rear. It would work either way.

I might just get 2 new u joints and swap it around, i like the idea of the slip joint being closer to the t-case, but the worst this truck will see is snow and wet grass.
