Occasional rod knock?

Probably weighed about as much as one of the 6.5 heads :D

The engine really wasn't even that heavy. Probably 2-300 lbs max, between 2 guys(I'm 6' ~285 lbs and my friend is 6'4" and ~360) it wasn't that much of a workout. I figured it'd be much heavier actually.

Pulling it out in the morning, decided to pull the engine and
tranny as a unit, much easier than fighting with that stuff
laying under the truck. Did I mention that I'm way too lazy
to be having to deal with this? :D
Still not to late to buy this truck, 1800 as is - a lot of the work
is already done. I'll check here in the AM, no takers and out it
comes!

Somebody missed a great deal, I woulda sold it cheap :rolleyes5:
Alright, doing things the (relatively) easy way bit me in the a$$
today - pulled the engine for nothing, I believe. :mad2:
However, while it's out, gonna clean up and fix the oil leak on
timing cover, check/change the timing chain, probably new
water pump, needs new transmission and motor mounts,
gonna change all the heater hoses, probably new fuel lines,
drill and tap for EGT gauge,......... what am I forgetting?
Here are some pics, towards the end I'll point out what I
found wrong :D

Dirty, first time I've pulled radiator

Pushrods on rear 2 cylinders weren't even in the rockers -
last rocker bolt was loose, second to last was broken - you
can see the wear at the end of the threads where it was moving,
and see the bolt broken off in the hole
I put a bolt in it, tightened them both up, hooked up a battery
and checked compression - 410# on both :D
Had I pulled the valve cover first, I could have been back on
the road in a couple of hours. Ah well, live and learn.
Still a little concerned over how I got so much diesel into
the crankcase, may have to do a leakdown test just for
peace of mind.....
Man, I'm beat :smile5:

Tookie, did you notice a drop in oil pressure with all the diesel in the oil? Esp. at idle?

No difference I could tell.
And when I drained the oil, it had been sitting for a few days,
pulled the bolt out slow, checking for coolant to come out
first - no trace visible
Oil smelled a little Dieselly though

Should replace your rocker keeper plastic retainers while your in there. Dirt cheap.

Great news Tookie. I'll take it for 2500!
