My 2005 Yukon XL

Note, when you go to swap or pull injectors from the rail, have a towel there to cover the holes in the intake port, fuel will come pouring out and some will go into the hole. this will possibly give you a false result when you first start it back up if you don't run it or drive enough to burn out what fuel does go into the ports.

when going back in with them, smear some of that di-electric grease on the o-rings so not to tear them. and if you haven't pulled them before, watch out for the little plastic cups and o-rings on the end that goes into the intake, sometimes they both will come off and stay in the intake.

Here is a generic pic of the injector, that little yellow plastic cup and o-ring can come off and stay in the intake.

Went to the local JY this weekend. One single flex fuel 02-07c that was in ROUGH shape. Out of 8 injectors, only 2 had plastic bodies that weren't cracked. So I grabbed them.

Set up a jig to blow Brakleen through them and they both sprayed well. Swapped out my suspect injector. Ended up having #8 pintle cap and o-ring come apart in the intake runner! Plucked it all back out and swapped the pintle cap with the one off of the assumed bad #6 inector. Couldn't see an issue in the assumed bad #6 when I tested it after, but I was praying it with Brakleen at a very low pressure.

Got the JY unit in and all seals cleaned and lubed. Also went back from NGK to ACDelco Platinums.

No leaks! CEL is currently off. The tip in hesitation seems to be gone. Going to keep driving it and see what happens.

Ended up pulling another item at the junkyard. I've had my hopes set on a Z71 roof rack swap for a while now. I just couldnt ever get lucky with a Suburban in the JY, it was always Tahoes which are too short. Mostly just for looks although I do strap quite a bit to the roof of this thing, it gets used like a truck. Its tough to get ratchet strap hooks around the low attachment siderails on mine. The Z71 unit sticks up a good 2 to 3-inches taller and I can easily get the hook of the ratchet strap around it.

I ended up spotting an un-godly crusty 2006 LTZ suburban, which is a fairly rare unit in itself. They had Z71 styled roof racks with chrome side rails instead of black. I'm not a big chrome guy, but it may offset the all black in conjunction with the chrome door molding. It was a fight due to the tiny hex and torx bit hardware but I got it all. I did break the front passenger plastic cover tab off, but we should get by with it until I can find a replacement. Will get some pics as we get it inside and cleaned up.

Dis-assembled and rinsed. Lots of parts to this thing. It was nasty, spent the last bit of its time under a pine tree.

Gonna throw a quick buff on the chrome tomorrow at lunch then start to re-assemble.
There is a body shop here that has a suburban with a roof rack.
It is some newer than the GMT400.
What Year roofing rack is the one You have and how does the contours of the mounting devices match to the contours of the truck ?
After I get offa work I’ll stop and take a peek at the one over here and get the particulars on the year and model suburban it is on.
Next Q, how You going to bolt it down to the top of Your truck ?
Then make it leak proof.
I need all the help and info that I can get. 😹😹

Luckily mine is nearly a bolt on swap! Same body style truck essentially. My current rack has 6 bolts per rail, this new one has 7 bolts per rail. I will be omitting the 7th attachment point and all should be fine.

Spent time today cleaning more. A quick polish, its still pitted pretty bad. Took a wire Wheel to the threads of the bolts and used a pick to remove debris in the torx and Allen heads. I will be sealing the threads of these bolts upon installation.

I also had to JBWeld the front carriage bolts back in. They spun when I tried to take them out as they embed to plastic.

Not sure the year of the Suburban with the roofing rack, guessing probably at least a 2005.
Talked to the body shop owner, he unlocked the gate and let me in, colder n HE DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS out there so he hitailed back to his office.
Walked in and swept off some snow.
I think this rack would fit about anything, no, or not much, curvature to the corner mounts and small torx screws its length.
Closed and locked the gate, into his office. Asked how much ? He told Me if You take it off You make me an offer and I will take it. Told Him $25.00 and he said its yours but I aint taking it off. It is cold out there.
Asked him for how long the vehicle will be setting out there, end of next summer. Okay, told him warmer days are coming. 😹

First CEL code popped up today. Was initially worried that I didn't cure my issue. I have about 150 miles on it since the parts cannon.

It's a P0449, issue with the vent solenoid down at the charcoal canister. In research it's most commonly the vent solenoid itself, but could also be the purge solenoid, pressure sensor, or gas cap. Check the cap, and I mean it looks old and beat but is clicked tight. I've got almost a 1/4 tank which I NEVER let it get this low, but it's been my daily driver for the last few days. I've heard this operates way more with less fuel in there due to more vapors.

Ok, will get some on it tonight. Going to swap out the vent valve hopefully at lunch today. It's in the teens here and the Yukon is Fluid Filmed. Part of me is wondering if I over sprayed that canister and it's plugged.

Looks good, now it's time to give that beauty a bath!
Frigging salt.

High has been 25 F. So no car washes yet. They have laid the salt so heavy all the roads are dust bowls. It's gonna be 40 F Tuesday but pour rain, then right back down into the teens end of this week. Roller coaster.

I think I have a front passenger wheel bearing going. I get noise at 70 and can kinda correlate it to spinning the tire by hand. Gonna get a Mevotech TTX replacement from RA this week. Oil Change, and a rear HVAC actuator replacement. Then a clean out and wash, then bound for FL after Christmas.

Cranking the miles on as a daily driver. Been noticing as I did a bunch of City driving that there is still a small bit of rough idle. Maybe a fluctuation of 100 to 200 rpm. Not throwing any codes at the moment and all monitors have been run.

Going to have a shop put it on the scanner tomorrow to see if anything sticks out to them. The truck has been running and driving great otherwise. You really only feel it at stoplights, or extended idling if left running.
