I got pop ups. I dont want pop ups...

Nope, just didn't read close enough. Let's go get CrapCleaner, now...

Go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

Over on the right-hand side, you'll see a big green arrow, pointing down. It says
"Download latest Version - 2.78 Mb".

Click on the green arrow, save the file when prompted.

By the way, those google links over on the left side? Never click on those. Spyware companies pay to have their links hosted on Google. Kinda sucks, huh.

****! thats what I did! I click on the left hand side one :eek:16:
Ill post when I get it downloaded... sorry for the screw up..

I got it downloaded, but I think thats as far as I can go tonight as duty calls... Still no pop ups, so thank you guys very very much!! Let me know if there are any instructions I need to know to run that program, and Ill post how it works out..

no, just run it. You get a configuration screen about 3 screens in, with 6 checkboxes on it. Uncheck the top 2 and the bottom 2, then proceed. When it's done, it will look normal, unless you right-click on your recycle bin... that menu will have a 'run ccleaner' item in it that you can select. Doing this every day will keep all kinds of crap out of your computer.

Yes, sorry for no update.. I think I got everything working now.. knock on wood..
Thank you for everyones help!!!

My bad... I started drinking on his tab before he confirmed the fix. Wait until he gets the bill!

Its not over yet....

I dont have any pop-ups, but I got this today... Is this normal?:holyshirt:

"McAfee has automatically blocked and removed a Trojan.

Trojans appear as legitimate programs but can damage valuable files, disrupt performance, and allow unauthorized access to your computer."

McAfee did what it's supposed to do. Life is good.

make sure you're following the suggestion above about making sure your account isn't an admin account, and it can't hurt you.

Run CrapCleaner every time you quit an internet session... just right-click on the trash can, select 'run ccleaner' and you're done... it will clean out your temp folders of al the crap you pick up.

And stay off the boobie sites... :)

I think I am doing everything I was told. I am going to re-read everything once again however.

Where is the trash can?? I dont see it?

Cant go on the boobie sites, Dont want any trouble with the better half ;)

Should I do anything with that superanitspyware? Or will it do what it dose on its own? Anything else I should do on a day-to-day?

I think you should do an update and run a full scan with superantispyware once a week...

...for the most part, it takes care of itself. You have to manually run CrapCleaner, but as you've noticed, it only takes a second. Lots of people don't want theri recycle bin emptied; you can change that setting by right-clicking on the recycle bin, selescing 'open ccleaner; and then unchecking the system settings you want to keep.

About all you really need to leave checked is:

remove cookies,
temporary internet files,
temporary system files, and
index.dat files... the rest is up to you

Why wouldn't I want the recycle bin emptied? What is best? Leave stuff in there or leave it empty? I was always emptying it..

Some people like to leave files in there until they're SURE they don't need 'em, because you can get them back.

Once you empty it, they're gone, gone, gone...

Is there any way for me to set it so it doesn't erase my passwords/name to sites like this? I have to login now and I never use to..

Are you using Firefox? If so, it will ask you if you want it to remember the password. Say yes.

everyday passwords are stored in temp. internet files, and you really want them erased, anyway.

browser passwords are stored by the browser, in a different place.
