I got pop ups. I dont want pop ups...

Scan is complete, it wont let me copy and paste.. what do you want to know? :)

Did what show up? I am still getting pop ups if thats whatca mean..

That's what i meant.

Go to:

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Download the free version for home users. Install it, update it, then run a scan of your system... I have the feeling that you have more than just QDRPack, but we'll do this one at a time.

I'm going to have to get off here soon to get a hour of sleep before work, Ill do that one first thing after job #2 tomorrow night and post up how it goes. Thank you again!

JiFaire- Do I want to "run" or "save" when it ask me to down load?

I always "save" the install files... sometimes they come in handy. I make a folder called "Install Files' (D-uh) and put them in there.

Once the download is complete, I run the install file from there. I usually allow the program default locations during the install; makes things simple if I want to uninstall later.

Oh no...DEERE3594 got bit, eh? Let's hope it doesn't get too bad on him and he can clean it up.

Yeah, q-door is a pain, but it's cleanable. Someday, I'm gonna get one of the guys who writes crap like that in the crosshairs over my hood and I'll run his little ricer over with my diesel.

Just one. I only want one. That's not too much to ask, is it?

I know NOTHING about computers so bear with me :banghead:
I have something called "Mcafee SecurityCenter". Something came up and I clicked "ok" before I read it all, something about changing registry or something. I musta hit yes and since then I got lots of pop ups. How do I fix this? Shot gun?

Mcafee is a virus in itself. It used to be a great program back in the early '90 until they converted it to bloatware.

If you have Windows XP, do a system restore - it's on the start menu under All Programs > Accessories > System Tools. Tell it to restore the computer to an earlier date, pick a date prior to when you first noticed the problems. If that doesn't work, Down Load Spybot and Adaware 2008 - both are freeware - do a search for them on Google. Run both of them - Spybot will catch the hijacker and delete it from the system. If it doesn't Adaware will.

I will second this move. Going back to an earlier restore will remove old register entries.
Spybot and Adaware are 2 great programs and I use them myself.

OK, if you want you could just copy the whole window with 'ALT+Print Screen' the paste it.

Don't know this one will have to check it out.

I have cleaned many PC's of friends and friends of friends and here is the best tip anyone could give to you.

DO NOT ALLOW EVERYONE ADMIN RIGHTS ON THE SYSTEM!!

Microsoft by default gives admin rights to systems that do not have a admin account. To fix this create individual accounts for everyone who will be using the computer, including the person with the Admin password, and make them use these!

Create 1 Admin account that only you know the password for. This account should only be used for Admin tasks. Updating the system, installing new software that you know is safe, adding new users. For everything else you should use your user login/account. DO NOT SURF THE WEB WITH THIS ACCOUNT

Without admin rights to the system no one can install anything, thus when you are surfing and some malware wants to install itself it can't as the use who is logged in doesn't have the rights to install anything.

Microsoft created the insecurities and it is up to the person using it to close them.

One just needs to be a little smarter!

double-click on it to install it. Then it will ask you if you want to update. Say yes. Then it will want you to scan the whole system with it. Say yes again.

When it asks you if it can remove spyware, say yes.

Post results.

and 30 seconds later I have 731... errgg

There you go...get 'em!

So which programs have you used so far to clean your system? You're using SuperAntiSpyware now, but you do need more than one, Spybot is good, so is Adaware, both free (there is a thread here with links)

What is the best, free one Ozzie? I will check out the thread right now..
