Greetings...and problems...

You can monitor voltage that your OPS is putting out. Contact G of your DLC (OBD1 connector) shows you the voltage at the LP while the engine is running. So you could put a meter on it and watch the voltage, if it ever drops below 10V then the LP will stop working.

Would that be G for the + and then use A for the ground, or any chassis ground?

I think buddy was suggesting connecting your voltmeter from pin G to ground, and monitoring for voltage. It should indicate the OPS function with respect to the lift pump. I think Mudbath posted the link to reference which pin G was.

Buddy...great point...it could have failed. I'll check that in a bit.

So I printed the instructions for the "code reading" and proceeded. I didn't see any code flashing. I tried it (4) times and was unable to see any code flashing. I've attached a pic of the dash, etc. for reference.

Thoughts?

Andy

Where is your SES light!!! It should always be on with the ignition in Run without the enigne running. You might have a burnt out bulb. And it probably has a code stored for it, but you cant see it. A scanner would still show it though.

I wanted to provide an update to my post. I've purchased the Heath PMD kit and my son, Jon, installed it a week ago. I didn't want to post about status right away, as I really wanted to give it some drive time before coming to any conclusions. So far the 'burb is driving quite well...very much improved. A combination of swapping the OPS and the PMD has brought reliability to this vehicle.

So a question with a few thoughts first:

Thoughts
The IP is new, the LP is new, the OPS is new and the PMD is new. The sock has been cleaned and I use PowerService in each tank.

Question
While driving at a steady rate (60mph), occasionally I'll notice a very, very minor fish-bite (only one bite). It isn't something that is concerning me per se', but I'd like some suggestions as to what it may be if possible? Is this typical with these 6.5's or not really?

Much appreciated,

Andy

Check that the ground wire on top of the IP is clean and didnt get loose

The OS filter is a good thing to check for and remove if its there. Or if its not there maybe you need one.
You can remove the filter and plug the engine harness directly into the OS

1st pic: The filter is the little black rectangular box in the middle with wires going into it.
2nd pic: The filter connector accessed from passenger side of IP
3rd pic: OS connector seen from driver side

What kind of fuel are you using? #2 ULSD?
Put a quart of 2-cycle oil in it and see if it helps. Powerservice wasnt too good in testing a while back, not sure if they ever actually improved for the ULSD.

Wasn't aware of that with respect to PS. I'll give the 2 cycle a try on the next tank. Ok, the OS is still on it...will take it off when it cools down, as we just arrived home. Thanks for the input gents!

Will do and will drive and report back :) Thanks again...great group of really sharp folk here.

No stumbling for him.... He was led directly here like a goat following a fresh tree branch!!

The funny thing is that both Mangus580 and I have dairy goats lol. As a brief note of clarification, he was the old goat that led me here :D

Update...

Older and WISER my friend....

:hihi:

*cough cough* :rolleyes5: lol

Ok back on track...Jon took out the OF and we took it for a test drive. Drove for approximately 10 miles and it didn't hiccup. Wife and children have a 3 hour trip tomorrow so I'll have a better idea after some driving. What I have noticed is smoother acceleration and smoothness at speed.

So far I'm giving this a

Seems that a removal of the filter didn't clean up the issue completely, but it seems better. Anyway, is there a paper clip method for resetting the codes? I don't have the SES light working presently, so until my OBD1-to-USB arrives, I'm rather stuck...unless of course I pull out the dash and figure out why the light isn't functioning. Anyway, is there a method with the clip to reset the codes?

I'd like to see if my TC will lock up and the cruise control work after a code clear.
