210 hot or NOT?

I thought the same thing......Also remember you have an extra inch......20" vs 21"

Kenny you're a tough customer....BUT, "try it, you'll like it."

I believe that to be intentional. Its lighter, and at low RPM its an aggressive pitch so it pulls a lot of air at idle, and then as it gets going faster and full lockup they can bend and not be so aggressive pitch so they arent pulling way too much horsepower from being too high of drag.
Exactly right.
We had a similar one on the stock car years ago that we were playing around with.

I knew someone was gonna mention the inch......Left that door open, LEO:hihi::thumbsup::rof:

Installed my Hayden 2839 w/ the D-Max blade today.....I'll let you know when I'm on line, at the scale, w/ A/C on, at idle, where the temp gauge goes.....Last week in 93* temps I would hit 200-210* after about 20 min...

Will the 2389 bolt up to my factory 95 water pump? And what is the part number for the fan?

2839. Don't mix that up. The Hayden Clutches lock up better but not any earlier. Only Kennedy's Clutch locks up earlier. I tried the fan clutch mod, it made it worse. Now the friggin thing doesn't come on till 240.

You did the mod on the Hayden clutch or the stock one? Did you make the bent part on the end longer or shorter?

ON the factory clutch. I made the tab 1/8 inch shorter and the coil an 1/8 longer. Now it does not come on till 240 and only if I slow down. The other possiblity is the rad I built is restricting the airflow to it ?? IDK> The old rad is oing back in today and a Kennedy clutch will be ordered. I gotta look in my garage though, I could swear I bought a 2839 Hayden for MY cucv but I can't find it.

Shouldn't I be able to mod a new clutch & get to the same outcome at a fraction of the cost? Before I pull out my wallet I'm gonna at least try to mode my current one, what have I got to loose...?

Kennedys fan is built with different calibration internally not the spring on the front and I did the fan clutch mod and ruined a perfectly good clutch. Your choice. I did exactly as described and it is now worse than before. Go to his website and read up on it. I spoke with warwagon about his in PM's as well since he lives in the desert. I had no luck with Heaths. I didn't think it worked any better. I'm not a flag waiver or an infomercial. I post what I experience positive or negative(mostly negative cause I always seem to have bad luck). Kennedy had a link to a dieselpage article but it no longer works but i did read it a few years ago. I never went with it before because all my trucks had the screw on hub WP but my 98 does not.

Yea, 10-4 on the Hayden.....But with the increased air flow over the 20" blade or any other 6 blade, the severe duty clutch is spinning at a greater % of the shaft speed to start with....So you are already ahead of the game as soon as you start the rig.....That alone aids in keeping things cool from the start, when she does lock up, the % goes even higher, giving the maximum air flow your gonna get at both idle and the higher RPM band.:agreed:

Also with a regular SD fan clutch, you don't have that ANNOYING extended lock up cycle like Kennedy's clutch......For the 5 or 6 miles I drove it yesterday, the temp gauge didn't move off the 190-195* mark......even at idle while I was in the Bakery getting some fresh baked Rye bread:)

My rig is mainly used for towing the camper which seems to be the hardest on these trucks so if the Kennedy fan runs a little more than it should , I am prepared for that sacrifice. I have literally tried everything else.
Crankme, If you can be patient for a week I should have the Kennedy clutch hopefully mid week and will test drive with my camper. it's supposed to break records in heat this week so we shall see. I will report my findings without prejudice. I owned up to blowing 600$ on a brass rad that didn't work so I'll own up to not liking the Kennedy fan if I don't.

It's you dime brother......But I bought that clutch ane the 20" blade like John suggested and it didn't do squat till I put the D-Max blade on it......I've posted my Kennedy clutch dilema about a million times and I still feel it is NO better than a average SD clutch, even with his Bull$h!t "Early engaugment" calibration.......I ain't buying it, it worked like every other clutch............Just reporting "real world" testing, you do what you think is right.

I'm no engineer or skilled wrench turner, but I changed that friggin clutch and blade many times.......and that are my findings.

I'm using the dmax blade. I need a clutch regardless so it's only costing me the difference. My clutch is now worthless junk because I tried that fan clutch mod. Advance was 177$ for the Hayden RockAuto was 140$. BTW After all John's preaching about the 20" steel, if you read his write up he even admits using the 21".
Besides, remember who your talking too...:D what works for others doesn't work for me...:suicide:
