210 hot or NOT?

What year pump do you have?

I have the 98/99 HO pump and was wondering if it's the same as a balance flow pump.

I'm wondering if they are one and the same.

And thanks for posting your results, hopefully you'll be towing and running hard to put me in the ballpark of how I run.

The "balanced flow" pumps are the 2000 type with the thread on fan clutch. Some later 99s came with them too.

Another member had done the same testing with the older 90gpm pump vs the 97/98 130gpm pump and found it was much better with the 130gpm, but I though it was just a bit warmer than the stock gauge.

I have the 2000 pump with the thread-on hub.

The tow planned for the end of the month will be a stiffer tow, but not what I would call as stiff as Santiam Pass over the Cascades would be. Eastbound it has several long hill climbs up to the summit (just under 5000') that could tax the capabilities of the 6.5. Going westbound from the east side of the mountains has one very long pull up to the summit, around 5 miles and about 2000' elevation climb. If my finances will allow, I'll be going that way to go hunting the end of Sept. The weather could be much cooler then, but we could also have a warm fall also since we've had such a weird start to our summer.

Buddy, I haven't run this pickup empty on a long run since installing the aux gauge so I don't have any idea what the temps will do when comparing the two gauges.

I do have the Heath fan clutch, but so far I'm not sure that it has come on. I have never definitely heard what others have described. On my trip over Hwy 26 the temps went up to 220-230*, I dropped a gear and speed to keep the RPMs up to keep the temps from climbing any higher. I'm wondering if the copper/brass rad I have is not allowing as much heat to get through to the clutch as is needed to activate the fan. I'm beginning to think that we really do need a more positive way to lock in the fan clutch. For this reason I'm watching what ace comes up with on the hummer clutch.
