That's a smart thing to do if for no other reason than a reference point. Many people are only gauge/numbers aware after mods and therefore have no idea if they are indeed seeing a post mod change or not. I am sure he uses it for part of figuring out his tuning but I am also sure that he also...
I dunno about that, if after working with/experiencing an ATT he personally as a 6.5 specialist is not into it then what is he supposed to say? Personally in a situation engine wise with a client whom I believe has made a bad choice then I to would no doubt first off suggest just that. Should...
I did not get laughed at in regards to Heath and the ATT. I did get though that he does not really like it and of course believes that the stock GM turbo and Turbomaster is the way to go. I also got a lengthy conversation/explanation from him as to why. I'll say this for Heath laugh or not...
I'm not sure how much of a future there is in WVO or waste oil to be honest. Round these parts it's starting to become a commodity. Colleague of mine who is running WVO is reporting that it is harder to get for free and many places are now locking it up. For the extra work it creates once you...
Sorry Kenny, hate to be a PIA diesel geek but it's not Crankcase Scavenging, there is no air admittance/charging via the crankcase. I would say that technically they are Uniflow Scavenging. Other than that though your description is good.
Cheers

Personally out of the bunch I always liked the sound of the 6-110 and as a unit in general. Even worked on a pair that had the earlier centrifugal blower.

HeHeHe, that would be quite the shoehorn Kenny! Just finished up that one on a boat that was 'shoehorned' in. I'm still sore from lying on my side/crawling through tight holes reaching around corners trying to do anything.
Cheers

It's a balancing act, 180 stats for me is to cold in the winter. If you do not like the thought of changing stats twice a year then you have a choice to make based on your usage habits. Like I said earlier 210 does not freak me out as long as it stops and it correlates to a heavy load. For me...
If you do it some time after 1st week of September I'll try to hop across also. Hopping the big pond visiting the home country for folks 50th Wedding Anniversary etc in August so not around then.
I've often pondered doing a few for the east coast clan having all the necessary items in my shop such as test pumps, lapping plates, powders etc it's just finding the time to do it and I'd need to get the shim's.
Re this thread as pointed out it is totally subjective and most of what I think...
I dunno if I got upset every time the ECT went up on an engine because of a big load coming on then I would not really get any sleep at night! This is a lighter duty diesel with as already discussed coolant issues and to try and lock it down to 195 or whatever or get upset because it does not...
Crank, mine and Orrum/others comments do not negate your want to get your truck cooling properly or to that matter improve your own personal comfort zone. We can pontificate all day about what numbers are safe etc but the truth is the more in check you keep those numbers the better life your...
Well said Orrum.
Over the years on this and other forums, I have been amused by the what a truck can tow threads and the shouts of no way can that tow that etc. Then I think of all the stuff that get's towed back in England or Europe come to that with smaller vehicles and I just smile. The...
It's a tough one, plenty of Detroit Jimmy owners put whatever in there and will report good lifespan's. Grade aside if you are putting a low ash oil in as required then it won't come in a multigrade anyway's.
Multigrade polymers have come a long way from the first attempts which did not hold...
FWIW Organic acid and Hybrid Organic Acid technologys A/F's such as Dexcool and the other high mileage ones out there are corrosive to old school copper/brass rads. It eats them up. Only good old Green Inorganic (silicate, phosphate) belongs in copper rad's as far as I am concerned. For me...
