What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Road tested the new NAPA boost control solenoid.
I had boost all the way to rosebud and back, although the boost would jump to 6-8 ponds then to 0 on the flats and 2 to thirteen pounds on the hills then back to 1 to 2 pounds.
Thirty miles over a thirty miles back ROWRRRRRrrrrrr hhhhmmmmmmmmm, is what it sounded like out the exhaust, rowr was 0 boost and hhhhmmmmmmmm was when it was booosting.
What a battle this has been, gotta get an original green dot Delco unit coming from Rock Auto, non available for quick pickup in this town.

Ordered new AC/Delco boost control solenoid from Rock Auto.
Only $26.88 includes mailing.
I guess in the mean time I`ll install the Turbo Master so I`ll have an even and controlled boost until the new controller arrives.
I sure hope that is the problem.

Do you know what kind of glowplugs they are before choosing to leave them in? Non regulated are not worth running even when free imo because of possible damage from broke tips.
No, dang it, I don't and so now I gotta pull 'em and see. Might as well throw in the Duraturms rather than take the chance.

I was able to remove the Pulley and Harmonic Balancer by removing the radiator. Gave clearance to use impact wrench to get the Pulley off as the bolts were just tight enough to spin the motor. OEM HB came off with the puller tool just by turning the bolt by hand. Wow.

The Fluidampr going back on...not so much. It fought the whole way with the install tool until it about broke. Then the HB Bolt like AKDieseldriver told me he'd used. It fought some more but, I prevailed.

It ain't coming off anytime soon that is for sure because I tried. Why? Glad you asked.

When I got done I picked up the box and this "ring thingy" fell out! Uh oh. Why do I have to everything at least twice?
I panicked, tried to take it off and it said, 'no you won't either!" It moved a little but, it was making me nervous as all get out. So I stopped and did a lot of searching and found install instructions and specs on Fluidampr's site plus a couple of threads. One on DP that helped a little and a better one here on TTS (naturally) from 2010 that settled my beating heart. Thank you BTSayles. My part number is 800141 which is the one piece with about the same depth (2.44") as the OEM unit (~2.7"). The $%^& ring is over 1/2" thick so it would put the pulley out of alignment if used behind the HB. Bolt won't spin any further than it currently sits anyway.

The 800191 is the two piece unit and measures at 3.18.

So, hopefully, the ring seems to be a souvenir to hang from the mirror or it goes on the front or, I'll get news tomorrow from Leroy that I do have to get the HB off and do it again.

I got the bolt set to 200lbs and it isn't moving any further. Pulley lines up with the PS Pump and AC so I know that is correct. Next time...never mind, there won't be a next time...I hope.

Directions, smecktions...Actually, I do read them and they didn't say squat about the spacer. Hence the surprise.
Thanks EWC and Deejaa, I really didn't want to try to get that thing off of there.
I pulled the PS fender well out and it revealed that another project for rust is at hand but, this time it will just be a fender replacement as there's too much damage to expend any effort to save it. That will wait until spring. I'll put the rusting fender well back when the glow plugs, harness and injectors are done which will be in a couple of weeks as I'm heading out of town again. Today is family time. Enjoy your weekend all.

Took the truck over the hill, adjusted the turbo master to 9 pounds pulling the steep part at 80 mph.
I just am hoping that the new solenoid control valve fixes this problem with the boost bouncing from 0 to as high as 12 pounds, constantly.

got the new boost control solenoid in the mail today.
Instead of removing the TM and putting the waste gate actuator back on, I`m going to install the new solenoid then hook a vacuum gauge to the actuator vac hose. Then if it is still messed up, I`ll be able to see it on the vacuum gauge and will not affect the way the engine runs.
If it all checks out okay, i`ll then install the waste gate actuator and give it the real test. LOL

Took the front drive shaft to the machine shop. Just so happened that someone had them rebuild a drive shaft from the same type of rig, several years ago, then they did not come in and pick it up, dropped Mine off and immediately hauled out another one already rebuilt and balanced. LOL Now waiting for the snow to quit dripping then crawl under and install it.

yesterday i had to change the fuel filters. it would run at idle but would die with any load. pressure gauge was showing 4 psi and dropped to 2 with bleeder opened. i use 3 filters: a goldenrod right off the bed mounted tank, a spin-on WIX 33122 and the one in the FFM. bottom of the FFM was super clean, no sludge or sediment at all. the bad part was i missed a dr appt and a day of work.

Oh Boy, that sucks.
After getting such a good test drive, on the boost system. I drove it the 60 mile RT to church Sunday.
On the flat stretches of road, the boost gauge would read between 0 and 1 pound of boost, just sort of slowly bounced between the numbers.
It seemed to work okay on the hills though.
I wonder if it could be the new delco boost control solenoid goofing up. I do have another NAPA replacement I could try, I am just a little shy about doing that after having two bad ones already, maybe the third is a charm. LOL

Pulled the front top member of the truck box away from the back of the cab.
Something that happens when the road chest is not tied down and someone unexpectedly stops right in front of You. LOL
Snap On road chest went slamming forwards, tipped it over, no tools were hurt in the making of that would be wreck.
It did take a while to get the tools all laid down so the drawers would properly pull to open again. LOL
Lesson learned, always tie down the road chest. LOLOLOL
The road chest after the wreck. LOL
