Walbro FRB-5 guys

Isn't it a standard double flare fuel line fitting?

Hi, No its a metric thread with an O'ring seal. It a very unique fitting. I do carry the female fittings and can get the male, but the male works only with a worm gear style clamp not a SS line with crimp on fittings.

How much would it cost to have a SS line from Filter MGR to walbro outlet? I'd say give it an extra 6-10 inches longer than factory tubing to aid in pathing and configurations? or is that too much slack to make up pathing? You know better then me, you deal with it alot more.

How much is diesel rated rubber line going for nowadays?

The OE fittings are whats called Tube-O fitting. I can get the fitting however you have to buy so many to make it reasonable that I can't see selling that many.

Greg.

I would say 6-8" longer would be good. You could do alittle "s" bend to take up the slack if needed.
A SS hose like you want would be $50ish I would have to get back with a solid price on Monday.
As far as rubber hose, you can get that at any parts store for 3.99/ft

Stainless braided Teflon is around $3.50 a foot. Would have to check on fittings. I would recommend using a flare fitting on both ends. Its not recommended to use hose barbs and hose clamps. If using a Walbro all you would need is a 1/4npt X 3/8 jic 90 on the discharge unless you lay it on its side. In that case just a straight fittings.

I'll have to take another look at the piece of line I cut out. I'd a sworn mine was a double flare either metric or standard.

I know its to late for you, but the fittings I offer would allow a person to NOT have to cut the lines. This is good if you want to put it back to stock or if you are on the road somwhere with a LP failure and can only get a stock pump in an emergency.
Well I guess you could keep the peice you cut off along with short rubber hoses and clamps to put the stock LP back in if needed

Those fittings are goign to come in really handy when I install my racor pre-filter to fuel tank.

then I need some more barb fittings to go from walbro in to racor out and some rubber hose.

Then the nice SS line pre plumbed for walbro out to flt mgr.

I'm trying to get everything possible ahead of time so when the time comes on a saturday i'm not bummin for parts.

Can't afford to have more than expected downtime, have no other truck to work out of.

To make matters worse, i'm an idiot when it comes to flaring pipe and fittings and stuff. Just never did it.

I do catch of fast, and have access to a dbl flaring tool, so maybe I should metal dbl flare between walbro and racor? Even though its suction side?

Jifaire had some really cool locking connectors before, he'll pipe in with the link i'm sure.

Double flare for this application is not really needed. Single will work fine.

We use a lot of Parker 1/2 fuel hose. I just looked up what the price of 3/8 is and its $2 a foot. It will out last the truck, rated for petroleum use at 250psi.

Lots of options when it comes to plumbing. Two options You could do yourself are, use compression fittings on filter to pump. The other, if both are the same size (1/4" for example) you could use a brass nipple of appropriate length. You would have to screw them onto each other and then mount it as one peice that way, so your bracket will have to be built accordingly.
A third option have another short SS line made for that spot.
I agree with Greg use female swivle flares on the hoses and male pipe to jic adapters and that double flare is not needed for this app.

I mounted the Walbro about 6" to the rear of the stock pump location and left the stock bracket in place. On the pump output line I slipped the stock fitting back on the line and slipped a piece of rubber line over and clamped. That way I can just put a stock pump in place an hook up line. The pump input line is what I sliced and diced. I also installed a Racor filter pre lift pump and about 3' of metal line had to go somewhere. Like I said, at first glance I thought the stock fitting was double flare. I assumed I could just pick up a barb to male double flare fitting if I had to use a OEM pump in an emergency.

Maybe I'm better off just going with leroy's fittings and use hose clamps and rubber line and deal with that flt-mgr to walbro line afterwards.

If hoseclamps hold 15psi of coolant pressure all day long, they should have no problem holding the pressure of walbro especially double clamped.

I'm just using standard 3/8 hose clamps but NAPA has some that are specked for fuel injection. Saw them in their catalog when I was trying to find another clamp.

You probally Did yours before I started making these fittings anyway? Sound like you have a nice set up.

I hate to lose the sale of the ss line, but honestly you could use the $3.99 Fuel injection hose and my fittings & be just fine for a long time. The SS would be very cool though:thumbsup:

I got scared off with the thought of walbro failure without being able to buy one locally. Then what would I do? I'd be stuck with 1/4npt fittings that I have no way to put a stock pump back on with ??? Thats why I originaly asked for it to be made to replace the factory setup, and then I would use your fittings to plumb in my walbro/racor.

The price you roughed for the SS line seemed very good to me.

If you sell all required parts/fittings/hoses for a complete walbro/racor install, I'd be more than happy to buy them from you, as the last thing i want to do is hunt around local places looking for fittings and things I really have no idea about.

Let me see what I can come up with. I will have to get back to you tomorrow. Are you set on a Racor filter? I can get a Wix set up or Perma Cool that is 10 micron also and the replacement spin on filters for them are available at any auto parts. I think the Raycor will be harded to find??

Also, with my LP bypass fittings If you are runnig a different LP/filter it not a problem, just keep your stock LP for emergency. You would just remove my fittings and put the stock LP right back in the stock location, plug it in and go.

Run both in parallel, switch off the GM pump run on the Walbro if it dies switch on the GM pump, that is way mine is rigged, also if Walbro dies IP will pull fuel thru it on it's own.
