Transmission core

Ok so those are necessary. My thought was to run a line off the master cylinder ant just put a t splitter on it. Rum one side to the right front, and one to left front.. then for rear, just come straight off the master cylinder with line and runn it straight back under the truck to the brake hose back there . Eliminate whole abs box and remove it. And that would be deleting all above mentioned valves...
So your saying that way won't work? Or am I misunderstanding
 
no the proportioning valve is needed otherwise youll be locking up the rear brakes the second you touch the pedal. this valve equalizes the pressure going to each wheel so you don't do a one wheel lockup and do a doughnut on the road!
 
@Stoney the proportioning valve is critical in any hydraulic brake system. In a simplified nutshell, what it does is allow full hydraulic pressure to the front brakes while delaying/decreasing hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes to prevent them (the rears) from locking up and sending the rear end from sliding out of control - especially in a "stomp on the whoa pedal" in an emergency stopping situation.

If you've ever been a regular motorcycle rider, you are the the 'human proportioning valve' when you grab a handful of front brake first, then gently ease into pressing down on the rear brake pedal lever with your foot to keep from locking up the rear tire and sending you into either a 'death wobble' or 'death slide' with the rear tire.
 
Ok I get what you're saying. @dbrannon79 said he thinks the valve can be separated from the abs. But don't see the point in it if I still have to deal with it getting airlicked or valves malfunctioning. Everything is unplugged from the whole box so it shouldn't be doing much anyway except having fluid pass through it. I was just trying to eliminate something that can cause problems.. trying to simplify everything on truck so to speak.
 
Yeah, and the ABS control box very, very rarely goes "bad" itself. The biggest issue with it is either letting the Master Cylinder get too low while bleeding brakes and sucking air into the system and then into the ABS control where is raises all sorts of havoc, or much, much more common is having a wheel sensor go bad (or bad new out of the box like with AutoZone parts) or a wiring harness issue that causes signal issues and hence brake issues/ABS codes.
 
Gm has a scan tool procedure to bleed brakes on these trucks and newer models. If you don't have one, then all you have to do is carefully drive the truck on gravel and slam on the brakes a few times. This will activate the ABS, then manually bleed the system again. Of course if your ABS is disabled due to a bad wheel sensor then it won't work.

Leave the ABS on the truck. I hardly every see issues with them.
 
when the ABS module is connected, there is two pins in the ECM connector underthe dash that you can short out to make the ABS motors cycle. I used this method to check for air in it. had to do it several times each after pumping the brake pedal. after I was done there was a slight difference in the pedal feel.

As for my brake work. Yeah I know. But nothing I could /can do about it.. I need a new spindle / hub. Nobody can get them.. I called every auto parts store checked RockAuto. They can't even get it on order. Local bone yard don't have one. So I gotta wait till I can find a junk truck that has one.
When back brake line blew I didn't have much choice. Have to drive to parts store to get line. So it was best option. Kinda a catch 22..

Spindle = knuckle. I have some for a GMT-400 2500 4WD. Just pay shipping
 
@Big T can I use a 4wd knuckle on a 2wd? I thought 2500 was different than 3500 1ton .. if it's not different that would be great. I always thought it was a different different mounting for the ball joints.
Wait a minute. 🤔. I'm no expert.. but on a four-wheel drive the spindle spins because it's on the shaft .. on a two wheel drive the spindle is welded right to the hub / knuckle ain't it?

No, can’t use on 2wd. Did not realize this was a 2wd.
 
Ok that's what I thought.. I didn't know if maybe there was a way to transfer the spindle shaft onto the other one..lol.. I thought maybe I smoked myself retarded LOL
 
Just a question.. I'm taking the old tranny into a place that said they buy them for cores.. only a hundred bucks but whatever.
But is it worth it to take the shift solinods out of it before I take it or are they junk due to tranny grenading. Anything else I should salvage from it?
