The Stealth BOMB'r is under the knife

No problem at all guys, glad ya enjoyed it.

Some of ya may like the next project we've been talking about.....

Stuff'n a Duramax into an old C10.

That'll be a little ways off, but I think it'll be our next build.

That was without nitrous.

I'm holding off on the nitrous for now as I've pushed those turbos as far as they can go. All I'd be doing is overspooling them if I sprayed it.

This winter I'll do a new set of twins that are setup specifically for what I want.

Torque is right around the same as it was before, but the HP is higher and both curves are flatter and extend out a bit farther, mainly due to the cam.

I just ran out of turbo.

Awesome project! Motor build on the Duramax?

Yeah, the next project will likely be a Duramax, just haven't settled on the platform yet.

I want to stuff in a Reg Cab, Long Bed, 2WD Dakota.

My partner Tom wants to stuff it in a C10.

It's a little ways off, but more than likely it'll be something along the lines of what we just did to mine.....except this will be a track only truck.

Go for the C10, or any other GM product. I know the DAKOTa needs ll the help it can get, but keep it in the family at least.

Now you've definitely got my attention with an old C-10.

As for the Dyno video, you can tell she needs more air. But that's some strong numbers any way you stretch it. Sounds real nice.

Yeah, but it's all about the weight and aero's on something like that.

I think it would be cool as all hell to do it in the C10 if we were gonna daily drive it. That would just be evil to pull up to a light in a C10 with a 600 HP Duramax in it. That would hurt some feelings.

But for a track only truck.....light, narrow and round.

We'll see. This ones a long ways off, but it's all going to come down to finding the platform for a price that won't kill it.

...LOL...Rich is into sleepers...

I remember getting thoroughly embarrassed by one of those...

Man, you pull up next to my truck and you'd have NO idea what it really is.

My truck looks nice, but it doesn't scream almost 800 HP nice.

It's like the Chevelle.....you'd walk up to it with te hood closed and think....11's, maybe high 10's....then it busts out with low 9's, high 8's. The thing ran 9.60's on nitrous and it was NO WHERE near as strong as it is now. But, from looking at it, you'd never know.

I like sleepers. I LOVE to see the looks on folks faces when you're waiting on them at the next stop light and already have the windows rolled down. The looks are priceless. The ones that won't even look at you are even better.

"Whatsa matter, hot shot? Didn't think you're $80K+ car was gonna get schooled by some ole pulp wood truck?.....BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"

Oh, I agree. I love the look and idea of a sleeper truck or car. Sure you can have the huge blower and supercharger sticking out of your hood, 16 inch slicks on the back, and stickers up and down the side of the truck (which has to add at least 10-15hp per sticker). :hihi: That has always been the thought I have wanted for my truck. Make it look simple, flat black exhaust, no tip, flat black rims, no big stack coming out of the bed, just looks like I have a few add on pieces, but underneath is where all the goodies are. And when you are sitting at a red light next to me, you have no idea that you are sitting next to a 8000 lbs truck that could run cirlces around your Mustang, Camaro, Vette, or ricer.:D

Okay, now here is where I have to give a HUGE thanks to Edge Products.

Aaron at Edge Products contacted me during the build. He told me that he'd like to upgrade the monitor I had on the Juice with Attitude to one of the newer CS or CTS monitors.

I told Aaron that I no longer had the Juice in my truck, as I had simply out grown it with this truck and had sold it to a friend after having it for about 4 years. But, I did have our '04 Duramax that serves as the tow rig and spends as much, if not more, time at the track and other events that was pretty much bone stock and needed some love.

Without even blinking, Aaron said "consider it done"

Well, today an Edge Juice w/ CTS monitor, dash pod and adapter showed up and today it went on, along with an S&B intake.

So, to Aaron and all the folks at Edge Products, Thank You very much for your contribution to this build and we'll certainly be flying the Edge colors in the shop and on the trailer when we're out and about.

Soooooo, the BOMB'r is back on the lift.

I lost 1st gear the other day and could not figure out what the hell was going on.

If it was in drive, it was trying to start in 2nd or 3rd, but when you applied throttle, it would try to go to first and just stop.

It still had reverse and 3rd, 4th and the TC still worked so I knew it wasn't a band or clutch pack.

Checked the pressures and the governor and accumulator pressure was high, so I swapped the governor and pressure sensor and that solved the pressure issue, but the trans still wasn't working.

There was nothing in the pan and the trans wasn't making noise, so I knew it wasn't any major carnage.

So yeaterday, I pull the VB and found that one of the plastic check balls had disintegrated. What it was doing was basically making the trans react like it had a trans brake. When you put it in manual 1st, it was also applying reverse so the truck wouldn't move.

A damn $0.02 part is keeping a $7K transmission from working......:mad2:

Anyways, here's a bit of what a valve body in one of these looks like. While I've got this apart, I'm probably gonna pull the trans apart and rebuild it.....hell, the rest is easy, the VB is the hard part.

This is where I found the problem. Over on the right side, near the bottom, there is suppossed to be another check ball and it wasn't there. See 2 pictures down for what they look like......friggin plastic.

These are the check balls in the lower valve body.

While it's apart, I'm ditching the OEM electronics and upgrading it to Borg Warner solenoids. MUCH better piece, bigger magnets, stronger plunger, doesn't flood out, 15% more flow capacity. Cuz stock SUCKS!

And while it's down, I figured I'd replace the other electronics that are a known PITA.....the fuel control actuators on the CP3's.
