stalling

I've been afraid to go far!!
It died again today.
Tried a different PMD and it made no difference.

Changed to the spare(new) OPS and it started right up?????

Ordered the harness and relay from Leroy Diesel.

Should get here Mon/Tue.
Sure hope this helps?

Now would there be a problem in the injector pump making it do this?
Someone said there is a pump in there and it should draw fuel and run, poorly but run.

I have a spare injector pump. How hard is it to rebuild it?

Another question: I pulled a boat out of the water today.25ft.twin motors fly bridge, cabin.
Basically I'm saying not a small boat.
It doesn't seem to have the OOOMPF it should.
Almost struggled to pull. But the tires broke free and spun.
It got it out but my Ford V-10 would pull the Burb backwards.

I never had a diesel and it seems like it's kinda lazy with the response??
Or maybe it's my imagination?

Gonna drive my son-inlaw's truck(Ford Diesel) this afternoon and see how it handles.

I think you said you replaced the FSU? If so the sock could be plugged up. They are putting the wrong one on them. Suggest they be removed and a frame mounted spin on pre LP filter be installed. Dropping the tank sucks so only do it once if you can.

Also, make sure your FSU connections are good and that you used new rings on the fitting. That can cause the exact symptoms you have too.

Oh and fuel pressure gauge is very important to see what your getting under load. As Jay said.

also make sure it has the vented diesel cap as opposed to the sealed gas cap.

when the new LP went in, did the lines get new o-rings? every time I do a LP, it gets new o-rings.

Hey yall! Im new here but it sounds like everybody with a 6.5 has about the same issues! Ive been going through it now for several months! Truck died and wouldnt start, put on new Lift pump then PMD module plus heat sink and have it on the firewall next to the master cylinder on my 94 C2500 2 wheel drive! Wasnt getting and boost so i made a manual waste gate control using a soft spring and still have it like that until I get a boost guage and or a pyrometer! Ran great for 4 days then went 2 miles yeserday and it died again and wont start! It did actually throw a code this time but i havnt got to pluging in my paper clip to read it yet! Any body have any ides what it might be this time? Oh and thats the 3rd PMD mod since January and the truck doesnt get drove much at all! Thanks !!

Firewall is a bad place for the remote PMD, hot location. Best place is to get it out of the engine compartment completely and mount the heatsink behind the front bumper. Also, what kind of PMD you are using makes a difference, too. Stock Stanadynes are junk. The new style gray Stanadyne PMD is a little better. The best one to use is the new aftermarket black Flight Services/Diapco with the raised "hump" down one side, as properly mounted to a correct heat sink they are nearly indestructible. LeroyDiesel sells both the gray Stanadyne and the black FS, as well as heat sinks and extension cables for the PMD.

Thanks! It has been hot here but I thought firewall was much better than on top of the intake like the instructyions said! The last PMD came from Oriellys! Its not Stanadyne but I have to look to see what it is! Ive even put a manual switch to the lift pump so I know its working!

Maybe start your own thread?
What is your fuel pressure? May have fuel delivery problem. Fuel pressure gauge is one of the most important things you can add to your truck.

I hope you spent the extra $10 for the brand new Dorman OE PMD instead of the Cardone reman. Both are the newer style built by FlightServices, but FS did have a manufacturing run early on with faulty soldering connections internally. Looks like Cardone got ahold of some of those. Either way, extreme heat soaking will kill the new style PMD eventually, just a lot longer and at higher temps than the old-style OEM Stanadyne PMD. If you're using the Dorman relocation kit from O'Reilly, that long bolt and the hole in the sink are for mounting behind the front bumper behind the license plate holder using its bolt mounting hole There are also other causes of intermittent no start/stalling than a toasted PMD, but that's the cause about 95% of the time. Other possibilities are a failed Lift Pump (just because you hear/feel it whirring doesn't mean it's pumping anything), the fuel shutoff solenoid going bad, sucking air into the fuel system somewhere, plugged fuel sock in the tank are a few that could also be culprits.

Went for a quick ride.
The truck ran great until I looked for a parking place.
It was like turning off the key.
Usually it kinda acts like it's ran/running out of fuel.
Not today: I had a new GM OPS and put it in.
Nothing!!
I had bought the kit from Leroy and installed it.
Along with a New Bosch OPS.
Again Nothing!!

I have another PMD and while it was running I change them out.
It ran with both. So I think the PMD is ok.
After it stopped I changed the PMD and nothing.

Is there a low oil sensor in this motor?

It doesn't have any warning lights.
I ran the codes and got 1 2 1 2 1 2 and 1 2 again.
I understand the codes are 1/2 1/2 1/2 and if no others are there it flashes 1/2 again.

Any ideas?

I put an AC /Delco sender and a Bosch and it did nothing.
That's why I'm working in another direction??

Any tests for PMD?

Glad you got it.

As the previous owner learned, and now you- the load of the LP is too much for the ops. GM just messed up. You need build yourself or buy the ops relay harness.
http://leroydiesel.com/products/

While your there if you dont have your spare pmd, he sells them, I suggest getting one of his lifetime warranty. Run it, keeping your old as the spare. Then when the new one dies (they all die) you switch to your old one and send him the other to get swapped out. I tell everyone a spare pmd is like a spare tire. You need it worst when you dont have it.

Also take the time and do a ton of reading here in the 6.5 areas- it will save you a ton of $ of the next years you own it.

As far as I'm concerned this should be one of the first pieces of advice to be given to anybody with a 94 or 95 6.5 diesel

I am confused, what do you mean by ACDelco sender?

No offense against Leroy, he sells quality part but unfortunately, BW OPS is not one of them.
I have heard a few members with that OPS behaving similar to the non ACDelco OPS from part store.
Try to get ACDelco OPS or at least do the relay mod if you want to keep the BW OPS.
To eliminate possible issue of OPS running LP.

Now, there is always a chance that new parts are DOA aka bad from the beginning.
The quality of overseas made part are all over the place with mostly on the bad region of the QC curve.

I used BorgWarner and AC Delco_OPS and neither worked.
It started
and ran for a bit and then started running rough.
Checked the codes,29/36/49/57/62

I think somethings getting hot and shutting the fuel off?
