Road Trip !!

Without his assistance i would have acomplished nothing this week but looking at it(projects)
Actually its been a long time ago since i pulled wrenches with a guy that knew what needed to be done without being told.

Love it... you guys are having big fun now! So AK, your Dad didn't trust the two of you to do the work? Did you explain to him that it didn't work now, and it was hardly gonna get worse if you worked on it? :D

AK is back on the road as of 11 AM.
I hope that "engine crate" he drives holds out for the duration of the trip so they don't have to eke out another "prison term" with an annoying cuss like me:D

If all people where like AK and his his Dad this world would be a much better place.
I'm proud to be member of a site with people of their caliber.:agreed:
my Wife and Me enjoyed their company very much, and considder them our friends for life.(i'm sure they feel the same way)

We spend a day removing and partly disassembling a cat diesel engine from a parts ASV compact loader, most of the rest of the time was wasted with yapping and watching buffalo and such.

i signed the famous can,so now it might have become a collectors item :hihi:

Sounds like you guys had a good time.

The breakdown was probably a good thing in a way.

pics of da project

Well, Les and his Dad have made it safely to Red Deer, AB.
Alberta.jpg
We met up on the highway - I'd been 'way out west in the boonies all day - and went into the city to grab some supper.

Simon, you must have had a real good time with them over the past few days... they are really great people, and spoke of how much they appreciated their visit with you and your wife. Wish I had been there, too!

Anyway, I really enjoyed getting to chat with both of them, sharing our stories over a meal, and getting to sign the OilCan! (You can tell by the pictures that it was cold, rainy, and threatening to snow - typical Alberta Spring day)

Then it was time to get some fuel and get back on the road...

They left Red Deer at around 8:00pm... heading south (for warmer climates!) <-- That info was for Mrs AK, just in case AK forgets to call! :)

It was a pleasure to meet you, gentlemen... godspeed on your trip!

***editorial comment ... this is why I love this place. Every person I've met or talked with here is the kind of guy I feel like I have known for years. It just doesn't get any better.

Jim,you look like you could be his brother ;)

And yes, like you said ,they are good guys :agreed:

I see they took the hard route straight trough Edmonton

JiF edit (nah, I'm older, fatter, and uglier. Maybe his cousin :D)

Not sure about that, I didn't ask them ... I just googled up the directions for the shortest distance and got the line from there so people would know where they had been so far today... 592 km (367 miles) if they went that way.

I think they took the 43 south onto the yellowhead and took the bypass via Devon( maybe longer but much faster than driving trough that nutcase called Edmonton)

BTW if you think you're old and ugly, you haven't seen me yet ;)

Ok, I have no idea how to copy and paste any comments on here to respond to. I should go get one of my kids. They could probably help me. Problem is I don't feel that old yet. Anyway, I think breaking down where they did was truly a blessing. I didn't have to worry about Les or his Dad, and again, thank you Simon, and tell your wife I really appreciate her and her help. And Jim, thanks for the update. He now has his phone on again, so he doesn't have to remember to call me, I can call and pester him as much as I think I can afford :) I think this trip down the road has been his funnest and most memorable thanks to all you guys.

Well we rolled into SLC about 7:30 pm. Looking forward to meeting Paul and Jake ( I think that's his name). I'll give Paul a call in a little while.

I was just asking him tonight what the ETA on when you'd be in town. Glad to know you made it OK. I'll be available tomorrow, so figure the dets out with Paul and he'll let me know the plan.
