Replacement turbo

Hey Slim, are the first 20 spoken for? If not, can I get on the list? :cornut:

First 20 are not all spoken for, you can PM me and we can talk. I will not be taking money until I can ship the Turbo.

The Turbos will be here in Detroit on or after the 12 of September. So from there it is just fabing the housing and down pipe, oil feed adapter, getting bolt kit and hose for oil drain then shipping. I am trying to get this moving but have to wait until I get Turbos here.

Trust me guys the wait will be worth it. I am not putting out a crap kit just to get them out there. I only do right: not crap. I also am bearing all of the financial cost up front because I can't take money from someone without giving them the product they ordered. The Turbos will also be inspected before they go out. Quality first.

A side note Turbine Doc and I learned first hand, please insure your turbo when shipping it is worth the money. If it gets lost by the USPS or any other shipper they will not cover your shipment without insurance. WE lost something of value the postal service said made it and the person that was supposed to get the package never did even though the postal service says they did. Now the postal service won't pay the insurance claim until they get a receipt from the seller / manufacturer for the actual value of the package. SO beware, tracking and insurance are key to getting our package to you securely.

USPS is the worst. They crushed a set of headers I bought and they were insured. They make it impossible to get a refund unless your shipping stuff to yourself from yourself.

I never got my money back.

Hey I made a mistake in the post, the turbos will be here in September not December. Been hectic, my truck has been on the hoist for over a week now with my rear end torn down to nothing, needed bearings through out, and brakes so I was tired last night when I posted.

I am starting to find that out. I think UPS or Fedx may be worth the extra cost. I like my parts in one piece and in a timely manner. I have been tracking some parts that were shipped by USPS and they arrived in my post office yesterday morning and never made it to me although they show they went out to me yesterday afternoon, I am going to be one BIG time pissed off customer if they lose my parts. I may have a postal party, LOL

Thanks for the update Slim.

Tim, did you put in the Walbro lift pump? Any difference in fueling? Also did you consider the Duramax LP kit (I am not sure of its specs for a 6.5 though)?

It was going in last week but I had to prep to evacuate for the storm, I'm home now but keeping an eye East yo see what Ike may bring us, all my tools are packed away in my evacuation kit ready to roll again.

Any news on whether Heath will make a custom tune for these turbos?

I sent the Mitsubishi to them to play with, the outlet tube was lost in the mail, so we had to have another fabbed up, they may not find need to change the tune, but I wanted them to play with one just in case.

With Bonneville stuff on their plate it's probably low on priority rite now, plus I gotta check to see if 2nd pipe has made it yet.

I started a new job Monday in Waycross Ga, turned out to be much bigger than I thought, I "own" the entire GE/CSX heavy Diesel locomotive overhaul shop, I wasn't told that until I got here, so my participation at site is gonna be low for a while until I get up to speed here.

Little Diesels "only" 6000 Shp

You defanately are the right man for the job bro...

The new down pipe will ship to Heath this Saturday. Been busy and figured it wouldn't make a difference with Bonneville coming up and didn't want the new down pipe to get lost either.

On a different note, just got done hauling 20,000 LBS (yep your read it right) with the new A-Team Turbo. Towed a 30 foot goose neck trailer with three tractors, total weight for trailer and tractors was a little over 20,000 lbs. My truck is rated at 8600 lbs GVWR. Now that being said, the trailer brakes worked good and my brakes were in top shape. Towed 65 MPH on the freeway and on secondary roads up hills and down hills, and got 11 mpg over the total trip. We hauled the load almost 1000 miles in five days.

I can tell you a couple of Dmax guys couldn't believe their eyes when rolling up next to us on the freeway, even the Dodge guys were amazed. Who says the 6.5 is dead, I have pictures of the truck and load coming. The A-Team Turbo works and works hard. Never saw any pre turbo EGT's above 1150 and saw max boost of 14 psi under high load at 2700 rpm. Towed in fifth gear on the highway at 65 with no problem and did most hills at 65 in fifth. Only shifted to fourth when rpm hit 1500 then kept speed on hills and even passed one Stroker going up hill. He was pulling a single tractor and trailer, and was laboring we passed him easily, the look on his eyes was worth it.

I think we have a keeper!!! OH combined GVW Gross vehicle weight with trailer and truck was a little over 27300 lbs, pretty respectable for our little 6.5 and mine is only 6.3 liters (6.2 block .040 over) .

Shady, this is the Chinese clone and not the Mitsubishi, correct?

The turbo on my truck is the Mitsubishi, the A-Team Turbo actually has a slightly better lower end response than the Mitsubishi. The A-Team Turbo is slightly better pulling at lower rpm than the Mitsu. Remember there were some minor changes I requested to the compressor wheel. The rest is dimensionally the same. Hope this answers the question, I can't say how good it was to feel that grunt when pulling that load, that is what I built my truck for, pulling not racing.
