Replacement turbo

What fuel delivery rate are you running? Mechanical or electronic pump?

Electronic fuel pump, heath high output, DS4 IP with a full optical bump (set by scanner so I still have idle control), modified fuel filter canister with 5/16 fuel lines and fittings (feed the beast).:sick:

I also have a bumped housing regulator with enlarged fuel inlet holes to increase fuel flow (volume) to the pump. I also have a HP4 Heath Chip :yikes:

I never used full throttle, cruising in fifth gear at 2200 rpm (65 mph) was between 39 to 49 mm3 as the scanner read. There were times I was at 59, to 69 mm3 when hitting little hills or accelerating but never at the full out 82mm3 I can get (well maybe once or twice :coolgleamA: OK OK maybe more dang). Just didn't need to run the truck that hard,

And intake air temp through the inter cooler never went past 98 with an ambient temp of 72, under boost (14psi ) for sustained periods.

That equates to an intercooler efficiency of about 84%, which isn't too bad! What is your core size?

What boost do you think that you would hit if you had "given her the berries" (all 82cc's)?

It would be interesting to see your IAT, boost (pre I/C), and ambient data from that run!!!!! :ihih:

I wondered how you got 3 tractors on a 30 ft. trailer, I see now they have the narrow axles. Nice antique tractors. Leo

They are my partner's tractors. He is the one who did the machine work on the turbo to make it fit our truck. Taking the rig across the Mackinaw bridge was an experience. The whole load plus truck and the three of us was a little over 27,000 around 27,300 lbs.

Thanks, My truck is a 8600 GVW rated truck, bet I had close to the rated load on the truck. The snubber's were not on the perches yet so had a little load left.
 
I have been following this thread from the beginning and just had a thought. I know slim and Tim or Tim and Slim probably already thought of this but here it is. I know this Chinese turbo w/ some modifications will work w/ our 6.5's. Our down pipes are 3" at the turbo and then some have them 4" out the back. Is a version of this turbo available w/ a 4" exhaust. If it were wouldn't is create even lower EGT's and more power? Just a thought.
 
Why not just take a BFH to the 4" pipe. I'm sure you could get 'er to fit in there.

No gain to be had for the 4" pipe backpressure is so negligble as it is now, I have a theory that part of the reduction of backpressure on A team turbo is because where the outlet begins to,make it's 90 transition is further back than the outlet casting of GM turbo, at exit of GM turbo exhaust gas hits back of turbo, vs almost 1' further back with A team turbo, also the A team is more "swept" outlet into a radius bend vs "hard 90" down.
