Painting my truck this weekend

I seriously doubt the inside of the truck will get any hotter than leaving it parked in a parking lot ona 100 degree day. That is a new one on me.

First time I drove up on it, it was wierd to see it all shiny.

Going to paint grill and tailgate tomorrow.

Mirrors folded out.
96 paint 004.jpg
Ajusted the headlights (after this picture) to fit the hole.
It was driving me crazy with them crooked.
96 paint 005.jpg
Chrome letters.
96 paint 008.jpg
Red letters. Just sort of laying there as best I could arrange them.

And black ones

I have a roll of new body side moulding coming next week.

Inside the dash is fine on a 100 degree day. Some of us do silly things like leave the PCM sitting on the glove box door open with things hanging out and I can tell you a day baking in direct sun can screw with it. Baking it in a paint booth at extreme temps with no airflow on the truck can damage it.

A darker red, like a matte brick red or maroon, because I like the black, but too hard to read. I like the red but it is a little too bright.

I like both chrome and the red, leaning more towards the chrome. Is that a 3" cowl induction hood? I like it! Have you or anybody else seen a cowl induction with a ram air as part of the front?

Don

is that a complete hood or a scoop bonded on? I want one!

sorry, no opinion on the letters, they look good each way. You're on your own with this decision.

where did you get those mirrors? i want them if i ever get mine back together its getting paint and a cowl hood, it was supposed to get that this spring but when the motor blew that put it on hold.

Seein that is making me wanna swap out the Chevy grille on my Dually for the nice GMC one I have. GMC's are better anyway....:D
If I put a GMC grille on it will run better and be stronger...

I think if you guys could see them up close you would like the black ones. They look tough, kind of stealthy. Personaly I dont like the chrome as much as the red or black.
Set up a poll format. I like the Chrome x3.

I was thinking that to. Have not looked but can I do that in this thread or would I have to start another?

I think it is 3". They are made with ram air on the front side of the cowl hood also.

Complete steel hood. Around $400

The mirrors are the Dodge trailer tows from a 2003 and older. Ebay has them cheap now. I love mine. Had them on three trucks now.

I like the GMC better also. Mine is a Chevy with the GMC grill. I finally riped off the "CHEVROLET" badge on the tailgate. It was a shame to do, but I looked for over a year for some with a perfect plain black tailgate to swap with mine. Finally just had to do it.
Oh and yes my truck picked up another 30 HP just by adding the GMC grill.

You could leave the 6.5 diesel black and put turbo after it in smaller red letters. I think the size of the letters and the brightness of the chrome or red is a little too "loud" which is why the more sublte black looks good. So a darker red would be cool, like a transition between black and the red on the side of the truck.

cant believe I didnt even notice the mirrors until somebody asked about them, I must have been distracted by the badass hood. They look pretty fugly imo when they are in the upright position. No offense

You guys are crazy, chrome Chevy grilles are far better looking and make much more power... Due most likely to chromes power-adding capabilities, since the GMC grille actually appears to let a lot more air thru. Aces, if your Chevy grill is good and ever ends up needing a new home, let me know. Mines pretty cracked and beat up.
