Newbie to Dmax need some fast advice

Probably a fluke bad part. Did you notice that it was replaced at 395 miles? Sounds to me like it was bad from the factory.

This is why I don't spend much time in this section...................... always makes me worry.
So far I've had to replace injectors and injector pump once. Some other problems that were from misuse when I first bought the 2nd hand truck, but nothing since and I worry all the time when the "hammers" gonna drop again now that I have no warranty. So far though, nearly 2 years since injectors and pump, no problems, she's been a good ol girl. I hope she'll continue to trwat me right as long as I treat her right :D

Yeah Friday, 20 mins to happy hour job which makes me wonder was the part a friday job or the whole truck...):h
Truck seems like a steal for 18k. Gonna hopefully see it Sunday if it's still there.

Thing that sucks is I just finall mastered working on 6.5s. Now gotta learn a whole nuther animal.
I have one you can work on and I'll be in CT in July.:D
I was just guessing...bad idea ...I know...

I could swear my buddy has a late 05 lly with a 6 speed... either that or he didn't get it and didn't tell me...I remember building the truck for his order...but the 6 speed transmission option wasn't going to be available until after Jan 05' so he waited...did GM just shelve it until the release of the LBZ?

Maybe I should have followed up with him...see what happens when you lose touch with someone...

There is a kit out there now to convert the 5 speed to a 6 speed Ally.

I passed on it. It is a really nice truck but like everyone else I'm concerned about having a payment again. Besides it was too nice a truck to take through the woods where I go to cut wood.

I'm revisiting the 2003 I first asked about. That one's a little beat up and he only wants 10K. I would take that truck woodsin. Still...So damn ugly...:)
with 104K on it is it reasonable to assume I could get 70-80K more out of it without any major problems ?

Here was the build on it. Only problem it had was something about body module ???

only problem I see is the injector warranty will be ending on 12/23/2009

because the in service date was 12/23/2002

you have 7 yrs or 200k miles...whichever comes first...

The other was in service 12/09/2003 so you'd have injector warranty until 12/09/2010

just something to think about...

Just gotta love it when someone can help via experience.
Hope you get it figured out and get the one you want.

Well Obvoiusly I'd rather have the 2004 but 9k difference can buy alot of injectors. I think the 2004 may be sold anyway. The listing is gone. That truck was just too nice to take beating inthe woods and i can buy the 2003 and not have a note on it. Although the 2004 looks so much nicer... :)

I didn't notice the price difference...

$9k difference will get you a couple of sets of injectors minimum...but if the the higher priced one seems to be so nice...and the other is raggedy and beat to hell...what's the chance the truck was maintained and treated the same?

My 2000 is beat to hell but it is well maintained. The guy selling it is the original owner. He does logging which means the truck has seen exactly what it will see with me. woods and firewood. It's always a gamble buying used but things are just too shaky right now for the big note. I just started a business in speculation of possible layoffs at my Municipal job but anything can happen right now.

Understandable and hope to run into you while visiting home(not literally):h)

Talked to the guy today. He told me "Duramaxes can go 10k miles on an oil change". That's not an encouraging sign is it ? I don't let my big trucks go that long.

that isnt all that uncommon. but it depends on the oil used. a good sythetic can very easily go that long. i go 20,000 between mine, with a filter change at 10,000. amsoil in my truck all the way around, and could actually go longer than that
