Kenny, I would not worry I ran 7K on Mobil Delvac 1300 15W/40. Blackstone returned my UOA and said it had plenty of life left.

Talked to the guy today. He told me "Duramaxes can go 10k miles on an oil change"
I understand your point as I am anal about mine at 3000 even with the Rotella Synthetic. I realize I may be wasting $$ but she is older and I want her to last. I am considering Amzoil for the next change as I can get it locally for $31.xx per gallon and if I can let it run for at least 10k with a filter or two, it will be cheaper on me. I just want to be sure.Talked to the guy today. He told me "Duramaxes can go 10k miles on an oil change". That's not an encouraging sign is it ? I don't let my big trucks go that long.
I dont know if I would trust anyone who says that. It dosent matter one bit what kind of engine it is, any synthetic is better for the engine in the long run and you can run at extended intervals. Saying that "Duramaxes can run at 10k mile oil change intervals" is purely ignorant. Its the fluid you put in it, not the friggen type of motor.
And, for the record, if you go strickly by the DIC (dashboard), you'll be at 12-15k before your oil life actually hits ZERO % life remaining, just like ALL GM vehicles. In fact, thats what they recommend. 3 months or 3000 miles is a busted myth and its pure waste of perfectly good fluid. The oils today are not like the oils of 10 or 20 years ago. Times have changed.

That's a tough call unless you know how it's been used for that length of time. One good indicator is # of hours divided into the miles. If the ave MPH is near 40 it would indicate primarily highway which is alot easier on it. For example, I've got an ave speed of 42.5 MPH and drive 90% highway (93.5k/2200 from my sig).Hey what do you guys think of a 2002 GMC 4x4 Dmax with 200K on it. I can get it really cheap possibly. Is 200K near death or does it have another 40-50k left ?
What's it look like? That's REAL cheap!4500$
