New Walbro lift pump 16.5 psi & 50 GPH

Hey Leroy are these going inline with the lift pump or replacements? Any mounting hardware needed? May have to get one of those bad boys when you get some, I will watch this tread. By the way wheels are loaded!

They are to replace the lift pump, so you can actually maintain the 6-9psi at the IP, that GM tech data says is the proper input pressure for the IP. It adds performance, especially when increasing the fuel output of the IP. It will require a little custom install. I drilled a couple holes in the crossmember and mounted it on top of that.

I got mine in the mail today. Looks great. It is a monsoon here and I am working through the weekend, so not sure if I will get a chance to pull her in the shop and put it on. MaybeFriday night after the kid goes to bed.

I am looking at alternate filter systems to add in here. Doing some reading on that. If anyone wants to point me in a direction, I appreciate it.

Got mine today! Don't have a failed pump yet so going to wait for some warmer weather to change it out and try to get a prefilter set up as well. Every where I check the Wix 24770 with 1-14 filter threads and 1/2" npt is on b/o. Hopefully they get some soon.

Thats the filter base I use as well. I believe you could run a raycor filter on it with the clear bowl also. Just need to confirm the thread is 1-14.

Thanks Scott for the wheels. Look at my web site on the LP bypass page to get an idea of the way I like to run the bracket. Simple to do all you need is a vise to bend the metal into shape.

So the napa 4770 is the wix base? 1-14 thread, 1/2" fittings. then I go 10 micron filter.

I put this before the pump correct? Then I can eliminate the sock in the tank if and when I need to in the future, correct?

I use a Napa base, with a 12 micron filter and water separator, but I should have just gotten a 30 micron for better flow without having to be really huge. No need for less than 30 micron, when the stock filter is 5 micron.

Yes.
Remove the sock when you install my Metrum Rod :hihi:
I run a 30 micron w/out water sep. Stock FFM has water sep.

Yes.

*cough*
but we just met! :)
Let's see I just put in a new fuel sender from Napa... so it should be... about 3 months before it reads weird? :)

Thanks for the info. I will pick up that base and some fuel line... sounds like 30 microns is the ticket.

I went with the stock location. I took a piece of threaded rod (10-24 or 1/4) and made a ubolt. I put in two 1/2" rod couplings as spacers to hold the pump above the stock lines. Snugged it all down on some washers. I will try to take pictures, but it is a crazy day/week. Probably $8 in parts at home depot to use stock location. All in the hardware aisle.

I sucked on the outlet hose until I got fuel into the pump, then hooked it up (to prime it a little, though not necessary). I then cracked the bleed valve on the filter and ran the pump. Picked it right up. Truck fired right up.

I will drive her tomorrow.

Having a hard time picturing what you did. Pictures would be nice when you get time.

I just finished up My Setup for my 6.5 with the new pump Took a couple lunch hours to get it done, I made it out of .060 Aluminum made the mounts out of 1/8x 1inch strap then tigged 3 1/4x20 T Nuts on the back for mounting, I will weld the mounting strap to the frame just behind the Torsion bar crossmember, Cut the fuel line and flair it with a 6an nut and sleeve to thread onto the in fitting on my Panel, I put a ball valve on so i can bypass the pump if it quits, I have 6an Braided line to run to the Racor Filter I have mounted to the front of the engine then 6an line to the injector pump, I will remove the old FFM as I wont need that any more,

That looks really nice. Be sure to get some pic's of the install too.
(Just thought about this), the pump is flow on fail, so do you need the ball valve?

this is the outside of the frame under the parking brake cable.

This one shows the 1/2" rod coupler being used as a spacer.
It seems to be working well.

Thats actually about what I had pictured in my mind. Simple. Did you have to drill the holes in the frame or are they there factory? I see the bypass fitting in one pic. How did the connector provided work out?
