Need new cyl head fast

What a nightmare. So I get the head off. it took me 3 hrs and 6 drill bits to finally get it drilled and then I slowly retapped it. Then I look at the broken glowplug and my gut is telling me,"Don't screw with it, the truck starts fine" Well I didn't listen to myself and drilled a hole in it. I had the head red around it with the rosebud and the EZ out snapped off in it but good. Now I'm totally f'ed so I call Advnace and order a head. As a last ditch effort I try welding a nut to the glow plug. F'in thing came out. So I cancelled the new head nd kept going. Cleaned everything nicey nice. Retapped all the holes in the block. Lay a new gasket on and my back gave out and I dropped the head on it and mauled it..
So now I'm screwed again. Gonna order another gasket and I guess wait till Monday and see if I can get the mechanic from the shop that does some of my heavy work to come and put it on. I just can't lift it bent over like that. Old age sucks.:suicide:

BTW the instructions for the ARP studs say torque in 3 steps to 110 lbs. Is that right or use the torque spec in the service manual ?

This is from the Chilton manuals. I can't find my GM one. Can anybody tell me what's wrong and why Chilton Manuals are worthless ??

I have not used my hoist in 15 yrs. I have no idea if it even works or where half the bolts are.

damn man. had i known i would've brought mine to you for you to use. Matt's right, you've only got one back. It'll only take so much abuse, before your screwed for life to the point where walking is excruciating. My back's a tad tweaked, and I hope i never make it worse.

Well, I gave it hell again and got the head on. I lost one of the dowels. Hmmm... where could it be ?? In the crossover. Had to take that off  . The ex manifold was junk. I had the one from my old 2000 which was good except the bolts were snapped off. Put the intake on and something did't feel right. I friggin squished a wire and ruined the gasket. That did it for tonight. Looks like it's going together. That PMD don't look like a Standyne to me.

The 6.5L matches my 1993 GM manual. 6.2L F'd drawing is missing a bolt or two.

someone is paying attention. That drawing for the 6.2 is a small block chevy. A 6.2 is the same as a 6.5. well it's almost together minus a few odds and ends. The quick connect for the heater hose looked like garbage so I am going to get a compression fitting and adapt to something better and get rid of it. Didn't do the FTB because I would rather not introduce too many variables at once. I would rather get the truck fired up when I get the ECM and see how it runs first then start playing with that.

make sure you have two dowels in place. they keep the head/gasket from moving around. Can cause early head gasket failure. I remove them to clean up the block. Use a drill bit that fits tight to id of sleeve and use vice grips to remove. Rotate slightly while doing a lifting motion. When I reinstall them, I put the end with vice grip marks in first and tap home with a plastic or brass hammer.

ONe came out with the head. No problem, unfortunatly I Have done about 3 HG job on these engines.Waitin for the new ECM and it should fire up...

My truck had no problem pulling long grades stock and I was only getting about 5 -6 psi of boost. I am sure with a TM it will be fine. Don't have 8 beans right now. Sorry , but for me The Heath Tune is the way to go. I was very happy with the last one.
