My K3500 Dually 6.5TD Thread

IIRC WarWagon said a db2 was timed right if it ratteled at idle but was smooth sounding at about 45 mph getting into the throttle.

Maybe PM him and ask.

i kind of have it running a bit better now by advancing it some.

it just will not go over 3500rpm,it just shakes, misses and smokes.

of course i do realize i shouldn't be revving it that high all the time, but i wanted to see if it had cleared that up too,but nope.

i'm starting to wonder if the IP needs to be turned up a little cause it plain sounds like it is starving for fuel when the engine calls for more.

does that sound like something that would cause this issue?

everyone over on aces thread is saying they woulda already ripped the DB2 out if they saw the problems he was having.

i have the same cold start problems as him plus all i have stated here.

i am getting worried.

I'm a bit late to the thread, and these have probably already been suggested. An injector imbalance gets worse with RPMs, low pop pressures could be a problem, or even a stuck closed one. Air in the fuel as well, poor lift pump pressure. If you have not monitored fuel pressure while bringing it to high RPMs thats a good idea. IP housing pressure increases with RPM which advances injection, and it increases fuel injection pressure a lot so a loose or cross threaded injector nut or leaking one would more likely show up at high rpm. Or a cracked injector line.
