My K3500 Dually 6.5TD Thread

i snagged cody's injectors,so tryin to line everything up to do it all during my xmas break from work.

might see if leroy has any of his fancy glow plug removing tools left just incase, lol

the ac plugs are fine they just don't warmup as fast. If you have already done the overide mod then the 60gs work fine

kinda interested in this mod you speak of.

it makes things even better does it?

i've been away from all the 6.2 and 6.5 stuff for quite awhile(since i sold my 96 6.5)6 years ago.

now that i have found this forum and bought this 93,i'm totally hooked again.

i am absorbing EVERYTHING i am learning here.

thanks to all

for where you live if you used 60gs you would want to do this mod. I'm running duraterms and have not done it.

yeah,we get bloody cold winters where i live.

but,if you're getting away with just the duraterms up there,i'll def be good with them too then.

with good batts I can start down to about 0 sometimes -5f. when it's colder than that see my sig for the heaters

i always plug mine in anything below freezing.seems easier on it.

the temp dictates the time that it gets plugged in basically.

but i do know it needs injectors and maybe 1-2 glow plugs,so just looking for the best that has been proven.and do it all at the same time.

I usually plug in around10-15f but I get caught off guard sometimes. Nice thing about the dual 1000w block heaters is time and money savings. when it's -30 I used to have to plug it in for several hours in advance of when I wanted to go. which usually meant it was plugged in most of the time. now I can plug in for as little as 1 hour and be good to go.

yes dual block heaters are awesome.

i ran my 79 blazer(gas) as a crew truck up north in the mid 90's and one cold snap it got down to -52c and it was reading on the temp gauge when i started it up in the morning.

i still say that was my most fav truck ever.she is missed.i rolled her.

OK,it's been just about a month of gathering parts.

here's my problem and some parts i got to fix what i think is wrong.

the old girl starts pretty hard when it is cold, even when plugged in for a couple hours.

when it does start there is a massive amount of blue smoke(fills the whole yard at the farm, lol) and it misses pretty good until it has ran for about a minute.

once it has all warmed up and i rev it up to 2000 rpm or more it also misses pretty good and smokes blue.

i'm thinkin injectors are pretty much shot so i bought a set.

i also got a set of duraterms to help with the cold starts a little and plan on checking out the controller to make sure it is in good shape.

also got a diamond eye 4" straight pipe system with a 3" down pipe for shits and giggles.

i plan on doing all the work tomorrow and am lookin for any feedback from anyone if i am on the right track here please.

If the lp isn't working it's forcing the ip to do it all. If you have a pinhole letting a tad bit of air in...... Put some clear tubing on the return line coming out of the ip and check for bubbles. also check to see if lp is working

on the front of the IP there is a short (3-4") 1/4" rubber line replace that permanantly with clear tubing. Then you can check it in the future too.

ok,cool

i gotta run to town to borrow a socket in the morn,so i will grab some clear fuel line and give that a try too.

what kind of pressure should the LP be putting out and where should i tie in to check it?
