Making a tube header for the turbo side

Slow and steady wins the race. It does look space age in there. I like the view under the fender and past the shock mount.
Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for your success.

Crossover and downpipe are installed. So the next thing was modifying the oil drain to fit. It didn't go too badly actually-I cut and rotated the pipe at the turbo and shortened the offset pipe at the bottom. Then I only had to make a hose that was about 2" longer and luckily I had some extra Multi-Purpose tube lying around. The parts have paint on them and are drying so they'll be ready for installation tomorrow. All that's left for tomorrow is making a brace to support the turbo and take some stress off the header then install the intake, wastegate actuator and battery. Should be running tomorrow!

It's alive!!! At first start it seemed a lot quieter than before, both in exhaust tone and clatter. It kind of reminded me of a 7.3 Powerstroke, but that could just be in my head. I took it for a drive and all is well. The exhaust seems quieter at cruising speed. I didn't get on it yet because I figured everything should get a chance to settle in first. I should try to retighten bolts soon too. I made a couple vids for ya:

Here's a steady cruise at 60mph. It's 47F out today. I haven't compared this with the last one I did yet to see how it differs.

Here's another one starting it up and doing a walk around at idle.

And finally I figured I should rev it a little. I was surprised when I watched it back to see some blue-gray smoke:eek: but I think I know why. When holding steady rpm of about 2000 or so the engine sputters a little and so I think that's par-burnt fuel. It does that with this tune, not sure what's up. Maybe the precups, maybe the high pop pressure....who knows. Hopefully going mechanical takes care of it. I've only listened to this on my phone so I'm not sure how it really sounds. Enjoy.

I guess that's it for now and so far it's a success! I'll share more as it comes up.

Thanks Leo.

Oh and I got so wrapped up in the results I forgot to post the last details of the build. Here are some pics of the oil return line and the brace between the turbo and the intake.

Nice work. The mic picks up everything sometimes, in the one cruising a 60 it seem like a lot of drone? camera?

When I buy gears, I'll stick with Yukon.

Yeah. I think there are a couple 14 bolts at the junk yard, so plan A is to hope to find one with a good set of GM 3.73s and plan B will be Yukons. The axle I have right now had a grenaded r&p and that's why I had to do gears. We set them up 3 times - each time with a perfect pattern and each time with decel howl between 65 and 45. Then I did some more looking around and found I wasn't the only one with that problem.

IMHO: Dump that rear and go 10.5" FF and never look back.......
