Its alittle bit of a fight to get it all in there, but its much easier than the original P/U ones that came off it.

Thanky you for the great explanation. I cant lock the doors on my truck, either i have the wrong key, or they are really crusty. And my handles, and dorrs are shot and rotted. Saturday night i am going out and buying a set of used doors, a tailgate, and nerf bars for 100 bucks of craigslist. So i am going to put the kodiak handles in those doors after i get them painted..

I need some clarification on how the lock cylinder comes out of the handle.
I have been plying around with mine tryin to figure it out, but I can't

Cool, post something up when you do.

Look back at the picture with the new lock pawl. On the cylinder at the 12 oclock position (in the picture)( yours will be six oclock in the handle) There is the spring loaded tab. you need to press that in and push the cylinder out at the same time.

So, can anyone confirm a 4 door Kodiak or HD?

I searched all over, and i could not find a single Kodiak or Topkick that was a quad cab, they were all regular cab. Have you opened up your back doors yet and seen if the linkage will bolt in? Use one of your front handles and just try it.. I think overall the mechanics of the front and rear doors are the same, their structure might be a little different, but give her a try.

The back doors dont have locks, If Im thinking right the handles are smaller becasue of that

No, they will interchange front to rear. I just did'int want the lock cylinder holes. If i do put the fronts in the rear I want to see if I can find lock cylinders that had an electrical switch built into them, like the old Corvette's had (1978ish years) Then I could use it for something else like an alarm or to roll windows down.....ect....

Well the parts guys are idiots. Even after they cry about me not having a VIN# because they don't want to have to do "reseach" (thats what it is now if they have to look up a part) I supplied them with a VIN# and they still cant find it.
They told me to go to a dealer that sells the Kodiak. I won't be able to do that until monday. Can anybody here get some part #s using the VIN #
1GBM7H1M65SJ101509 for rear handles and linkage/s before Monday?

It is getting so hard to get good parts guys these days!!:mad2:
It was a strange situation at the dealership I used to work at, the parts guys were such big dumb shits, that all the employees bought their parts from the other GM dealership, because we all liked him better.

Nice write up, there is a 3500HD that has been sitting in this guys "junk" yard for a number of years, think I will go see if he would part with the door handles and rods. If I'm lucky it will have a 599 block 6.5 too. :D I can see it from my house right now it's so close.

Thanks
I have been looking at a few 4 door Kodiak and HD trucks When the dealer runs the VIN they all come back as 2 door trucks. I think some carrage shop must have custom made the 4 doors. Another thing is on all the 4door trucks I have seen the rear doors have the lock cylinder in them also. I think if GM did it there would be a special handle without them.
I am just going to get another set of fronts for the rear doors, at some point.

Thanks

I've been curious about this as well and have done some digging. After spending some time on ebay and mucking about with VIN numbers in an EPC I can't find any official rear handles. This is what the doors look like in the EPC, no rear ones, front only.

Rear Door Handles

Here are a couple pictures I have saved to my computer, of a 3500HD Crew Cab truck. I got the link to the Ebay listing by searching for the "rare rig" thread here. As you can see, the rear door handles look the exact same as the front ones, locks and all.
