Intake Manifold and Valve Covers

Alcoas are always cool.

If you install the other axle, here is a couple of stupid ideas i have done that in the past.

Friend had a camp trailer that used 12v everything, but had 24v truck towing it. He put in a rear axle from a pickup he had. I helped him mount and drive an alternator off a belt from the input shaft if the axle. When he would tow it, the tiny honda generator charged his camper batteries.

It gets worse... Another friend wanted a low slung trailer for low wind resistance on the hiway, but ground clearance off road. We made a dual swing arm set up to replace the leaf springs and installed air shocks to the axle. He already had a small compressor onboard for blowing up lake toys or innertubes for the snow. We just ran a line from it to the shocks with 2 individual ball valves on a tee to each one. He could raise or lower each side as he wanted in seconds.

Please get a spare on the trailer. When you do the change over, A lot of guys would like that axle you take out so they can tandum their trialers, that should pay for some alcoas to match.

We have two (2) Alcoas for the trailer; at least three (3) steel wheels for spares in addition to the Alcoa spares in the the Suburbans.

I am hoping the parking brake cables on the trailer will work on the brakes of the 14 bolt Full Floater.

I was going to take the existing axle to the salvage yard. It's yours.

Thanks, I don't need it. I just have heard other guys talk about wanting o get a matching axle for theirs A few years back.
I would offer it on 503g site.

When my sister moves out or sells her rv (her rv blocks my backyard - divorce pending) I want to pick up an m1101 with hmmwv 12 bolt wheels to match my hummer. Currently looking like the 32nd of Neveruary...

503g site? That's government talk for what?

Sorry. G503.com
Forum for ex military rigs - those are the guys likely to buy your axle.

Just redid the upper intake. Looked like the upper was leaking slightly. I still get some turbo noise, but not nearly as much.

Also replace the heater hose coupler to the crossover. God must have taken pity on me as it came out whole. Replaced with new steel coupler with barb and heater hose.

Just came back from test drive and all is good.

So after a couple trips up to Big Bear, the boost pressure would top out at 11 to 12 psi and I still had the hissing sound. I suspect leak on intake manifold and decided to pull it and install new gaskets. When I pulled it, I discovered that it broke at the front passenger side bolt (see pics).

Is this repairable?

Should I swap in the manifold from the '95 engine?

Yep. And I did it again with the new one at the same spot. Got the manifold pressure wire under it and cracked it as I torqued it down. My near vision is just crap anymore. I went all over it as I was putting it in and still missed it.

Anyone got a manifold they want to sell?

If you can find a good deal, then replace it. Otherwise find a shop near you that can tig weld aluminum. Very fixable to a decent welder. I dont have a tig welder unfortunately.

DO NOT try cleaning with any degreaser or anything. Let the welder use his stuff to clean it.

I hear you, I can TIG anything but AL. Don't have High Frequency or Helium. There should be a shop with one or the other.

I have a guy who can TIG aluminum.

I just test ran it and got rid of the hiss under boost. No more more hissy bitch. Next weekend = fence work on Fullerton property.
