Intake Manifold and Valve Covers

How did I miss my that!?!

Can you do a pic more from the side to show height of valve stem from retainers?

From the 1st pic the valve seems ok to run.

3rd option hit me- sticking valve. Was it popping or missing? I know, once I post this I'll go back and read about it on 2nd post, huh?

Here's a close up of the specific valve from the top. I'll go out and get one from the side. Doing this out back, so it's a bit of a hike. I did get the button out of the exhaust. It went past the joint from the down pipe to the exhaust.

Lay a straight edge across the top of the valve stems. If it doesn't seem to have much wear then I'd just do rockers. Might be a good time to upgrade to the HS rockers as they would help with wear

The right side in the pic looks flared over a little. I would just clean it up with a file and run the valve. It hasn't worn enough to loose much throw, or to allow a rocker arm to strike the retainers releasing the valve.

This is one of the places I was thinking some ceramic or Teflon coating would be magic. Not as a repair for your valve, but to lessen friction blah blah blah.

Ya know, Leroy has those fancy Harland Sharp rollers... Then I'm still waiting for somebody to use them and add these:

I don't see any oil in that show.

$600 for a set of HS rollers is a bit spendy for this engine with 210K miles on it. I could justify that on a new P400. I will see if NAPA has a the rocker. If not, then it's RA.

NAPA did not have the rocker in their warehouses locally. One in Kentucky, which would take 2 weeks to get. Rockauto is cheaper and faster than that. I'll get the valve covers straightened and cleaned up and put the passenger side back together while waiting for the part.

If ya can't find anything else I have a new set off my P motor that I have no plans for, I'll look and see if I can find out what a complete set is worth..

PM me if ya want ...

It looks like a little of lack of oil, valve chatter, and maybe too tight... but the valve is harder than the rocker also..

Thanks. I already ordered the part. It will be here next week. $13 with shipping from RA. If NAPA had it, it was $13 plus tax and 2 weeks.

My suggestion, use a diamond hone stick like you use for sharpening knives with to take that burr off the side of the valve stem tip and to put a slight chamfer around the edge.

Ted (635) ran the Harland Sharps. Liked 'em.

Ted ran all the good stuff, yet he still blew his engine.

I ordered the Rocker from RA yesterday and it arrived today via standard USPS. Unfortunately, I left the rocker arm on cylinders 5 and 6 because I did not want to mix them. When I pulled it, the same right valve on #6 had similar wear. So I had to order another. Had I pulled it yesterday, I'd have both and it would already be back together. Valve cover on passenger side is already on.
