Help a Brother Out #2

It seems that to get a two in one electronic gauge is near impossible. From what I have been searching.
Someone had mentioned the boost/vacuum gauge and I have done some searching on those too.
Been a while since I have searched it out, cant remember, seems they were mostly mechanical and electron ones was a lot of $$$$

I used to do all mechanical, and those gauges can be found that goes from vacuum to pressure - thats how most test gauges are done. Sending units for electric is a different story- very hard to find those sending units without spending huge money.

Ok so plans getting delayed due to weather tomorrow..
I'm seriously not understanding a different issue though... when you turn the key on and the wait to start light is flashing you can hear the lift pump running at least for a few seconds.... Mine used to be that way consistently... I could always hear it from in the cab... I don't remember when this started, I know it's been awhile ,but sometimes I can hear it running sometimes I can't... The little pump has been replaced multiple times.. I have both a Delphi one and a AC Delco one under warranty... It doesn't seem like changing the pump changes that issue... I exchange them every once in a while just cause I can.... I know I've said that the truck has electrical issues, but I'm wondering if one of the issues in the cab is affecting the pump or vice versa

It was never clear in the thread what years ran the lift pump with the glow plugs. I suggest your memory is correct. However before chasing that electrical mess: understand it's not important. What IS important is the lift pump is running when the engine is or when cranking. Glow plug lift pump is not required and for the trouble not worth chasing if the other stuff works.

@WarWagon usually it runs while plugs are heating...the thing i worry about is if at times it's cutting on and off while driving cause of a short or something then it will fry the ip...so I want to figure out a way to make sure it's staying running...

@Stoney something you can do to check if the LP is cutting out while driving, at least for receiving power, not actual operation is splicing into the two wires at the LP with a 12 volt bulb or LED and mounting it into the dash somewhere. this way when you see it lit up the LP has power and ground. later integrate that light into a gauge to see actual pressure/vacuum and you'd be all set.

just be sure to use water tight connections so it never has a chance to get moisture and cause corrosion problems later.

I know on OBD1 systems (pre 96) one of the pins on the pcm connector shows 12 volts positive when the LP is active. works in reverse to have send power on that pin to test and prime the fuel system. I'm not sure if your truck (OBD2) has that same pin. if it does, you could easily rig a small LED on the connector and not have to worry about messing with connections or running wires into the cab.

does that connector plug directly to the blower switch or into another plug harness going to the ac controls. mine has a harness with two connectors similar to that inline and then another on the blower switch.

here is a diagram @Stoney for the 1995 model I have in my archive collection. I had to compress it to a zip file in order the post it here. I also sent it to your email in a normal pdf if it will help you in any way. I think for the most part it should be the same for your truck other than some of the PCM stuff. the body wiring should be the same.
