Lookin at the motor tonight, this thing may not be as sick as I thought. I think the problem is the turbo is not pulling the vapors in. Could be part of my low boost problem or because the POS cone looking air filter is not causing enough restriction to pull it in. I pulled the CDR pipe out of the elbow of the aircleaner and it had no pull at all unless I brought the RPMs up. I am pretty sure my boost problem is the crossover is leaking like a sieve. Frigging exhaust shop charging me 200$ to make a new one. Talk about no vasoline. New crossover should help the boost so I'll see if that works. The truck is smoking out the breathers(very little and I am certain it's oil, not coolant) but if I bring the rpms up even a little it's gone. Seems it just isn't pulling enough at idle.

No it's tilt. It looks the same to me. I hate these columns. What a PIA to work on. The newer ones are definitely better.

Should be a direct replacement then. If it was a straight column it would still fit, but you would have to turn the ing sw connector upside down to plug it in.
Will be a great time to add Flash to Pass to the truck.

My K-5 did the same thing when i had the air intake silencer deleted. Not enough restriction for the CDR to work properly at idle but even sneeze at the throttle and the blowby would almost vanish.

I was worried until i inadvertently passed my hand past the opening to the air cleaner and noticed the blowby went back to "normal" which for this particular engine is a bit at idle, but nothing overly huge.

I might get a Heath Cold air kit and put it on the burb then recycle the k47 to this rag. Dunno. I was low on coolant this am....I did pop the rad yesterday though and some spilled out but I didn't think it was as much as I put back in. Was only down a pint.

Could not find Heath's cold air setup.

there has been talk of a new website, and all their computer efforts are focused on that, rahter than keeping the old site up to date. at least that is what I read somewhere. makes sense though, otherwise I wouldnt repeat it! :)

Man, to a central New Yorker that truck is gorgeous. You NEVER find a truck with a body that clean around here. Salt destroys it. Around here the main turn-off of a truck is rot. Other problems are nothing. Keep going on the truck. Its an awesome rig, i love seeing pictures of it. Wish mine was lifted!!

Well got the new crossover done today. 225$...Ouch.He did a nice job though. Since it's not mandrel bent I had him use 2 1/2 inch and it's single wall so it won't have the issues the factory ones have. He did a nice job. One thing nice about the lift, it makes everything easier to do on the truck. It's like working on an OBS truck(Square). Boost didn't improve any though. Truck runs good, doesn't smoke at all just feel like I'm getting a weird boost curve although I guess comparing this to my previous DS4 equipped truck. The truck has 0-2 lbs of boost until about half throttle then it hits 5-6 and then 10-12 WOT. That seems to be all I can get out of it. I got check the throttle cable though, pedal feels like it's not getting full throttle. Tell you what though, this truck gets way better fuel mileage than my Burb or Dually even with the big tires. Picked up a non tilt steering column at the junky for a C. Tilt wheel no good in a lifted truck. I don't tilt it anyway so it's not needed. Oddly enough steering columns seemed to be pretty abundant at the junkyard for stick shift. I figured it would be hard to find.

Now onto the other issues. Why the heck I got no speedo, The alt gauge reads 18 volts when the truck is actually only putting out 14 and the coolant seems happy at 210 but who the heck knows what thermostat is in it. It's a sinlge and I guarantee the GM one is not in it. Is there any way I can test the VSS before I buy one to make sure that is what's wrong and not a wiring/cluster issue ? Damn I miss speedometer cables..Could it be the ecm. Bill said this truck has one. a/c crapped out on the highway and I thought I lost the charge but when I got home and turned it on it was working fine. I hate that crap. Now I gotta figure out if it's the HP switch, the control head or a bad clutch. Oh well atleast it isn't the evaporator. That would suck bigtime.

Hastings are GOOD!

If you don't mind a coffee can with a roll of toilet paper. Hastings filters are responsible for alot of spun bearings.....I grew up with Jack Merkel's sons (Jack Merkel Racing engines) and they had a Hastings sign in the shop with a circle and a slash through. they work real good, so good they stop the oil flow.
