Getting ready to start my project !!!

I have had my crossover for a few days now, but waited 'til the rest of the exhaust showed up to take and post pics.

I was impressed with this kit, very nice tubing.

Maybe it's time now to get back on it..

Mike

Thats a "hot" looking exhaust. Whered you get it from

Remember that the front hanger will have to be modified. I cut the OEM one off and welded it to the new clamp/hanger.

Thanks Leroy.. I appreciate the help. I will also be getting back a hold of you for a couple more goodies in the future. I need to let my wallet take a rest for bit, as it's on fire...LOL

Made some more progress... I had taken the torches to the old "Banks" exhaust and got that out of the way, hung the new 4" under there. I really want to buy a 4" Flowmaster to put in line rather then the big fancy stainless glass pack that came with the kit though.. LOL. While under the truck, I was looking at things and once the 4" lift is installed, I'm quite certain there will be ample room for a 5" exhaust.. just sayin'.

I checked the S & B filter housing for fitment with the new turbo and it's gonna be a NO GO... I'm a lil frustrated by it and not for sure if I'm gonna mount it up front and move the battery or try to sell it and come up with something else..

Anyhow, I bought some more goodies today so I could fab up a new down pipe.

I made up a 3 1/2" elbow down pipe yesterday... I think I'm gonna just go a head and weld it to the lower 3" section for now and later on down the road, I will make up a 3 1/2" lower down pipe that connects to the rest of the exhaust.

I haven't got anymore pics of the progress besides these couple here, I forgot the camera Saturday when I worked on the truck and I was toooo hungover to work on it Sunday..LOL
Anyhow I removed the awesome 1/4" fitting from the FFM and drilled - tapped and installed the 3/8" fitting. I cleaned it up a tad put some newer loom on and of course painted just a bit.

These things are a really sweet contraption ... <---(sarcasm)

Here are a few pics of what lil bit of progress I made ...

Down pipe welded, wrapped and installed.
100_5535.jpg

Cross over pipe all wrapped.
100_5536.jpg

Oil cooler lines that are a pain in the ass to install..
100_5537.jpg

Looks good, your turbo will be more responsive with the cross-over wrapped (heat aids spin). Also, wrapped up your under hood temps will be lower too. Getting very close now.....:agreed:

I've gotten a few more things recently and have gotten a few more things done.... I know, I'm a slacker.

Oil cooler lines and oil filter all installed and a slight pain in the ass...
100_5544.jpg 100_5545.jpg 100_5537.jpg

Dual core tranny cooler all mounted to the radiator.
100_5538.jpg

Radiator and lower hose all mounted.
100_5543.jpg 100_5540.jpg 100_5542.jpg

Recently received my Duramax fan blade, thermostat, and radiator cap.
100_5546.jpg

Recently picked up my battery trays after having them sand blasted and painted.
100_5549.jpg

Fan blade / Kodiak fan clutch all installed.
100_5550.jpg 100_5551.jpg

And then of course... the upper shroud hits on the fan blade.
100_5552.jpg 100_5553.jpg

I think part of the problem is from a gnarly wamped out tranny mount (it sags and is squishy).... I had a hell of a time getting the tranny bell hosing to line up the motor when installing it. So now I'm gonna have to shimmy back under this thing and change it out with the new Energy suspension mount I had bought awhile back. Hopefully that will center the nose of the motor in the shroud (maybe raising the rear of the tranny will lower the fan blade allowing for proper clearance) , if not, I'll have to bust out the die grinder and do some clearance work....

I just returned from another fabulous trip see some friends in Louisiana and a visit to my brother in Dallas Texas, was gone for the last week and a half. Really racking up the miles on my car this year.
Anyhow, I was at a lil standstill so that is why I decided to take a lil trip. While I was gone a few more things showed up for me...

Rock Auto sent me these, Bosch glow plugs and my coolant level sensor.
100_5561.jpg

Tuff Country suspensions sent me these boxes... I can't wait to see what it is..
100_5562.jpg

I am going to keep picking away at this thing and turn it into a finished project.

SORRY about the lack of updates... The truck is kinda on a back burner again, til it gets moved home. I'm back to work now and just recently arrived home from another massive road trip / family vacation... Not to mention, I was getting slightly burned out on it again.
Soo, now I need to work for a bit, replenish some cash and then get back to it...

I'll keep ya's posted.

I don't have the measurements of it right off hand.. I've had it for quite awhile though. I think it was maybe a 10,000 lb cooler and it's dual core. I also have 5/16" tranny lines on it.

Sorry about not posting for a while... Been really busy at work, I did get my truck moved back home a couple weeks ago and have been back working on it..

Mike

Here's a lil update... I actually have been working on it some again lately. Crossover pipe is on, but no pics of that, I did get the S&B box / filter all mounted in, here's a few pics.

I made my own end plate out of 3/8" aluminum (next to the cardboard template), the locking tab on the bottom is (2) pcs of 1/4" aluminum drilled and bolted to the plate with 1/4-20 ss fasteners.
100_6647.jpg 100_6648.jpg

I decided to go with (3) 4" 90's, a couple of ss joiners and a piece of 4" exhaust tubing for my filter adapter. I did the 90's like this so they would clear my side posts on my battery. Also had to trim the 90's to length to get them to fit decently.
100_6649.jpg 100_6650.jpg

A few pics of everything all mounted and routed, you can see how I plumbed the turbo to intake.
100_6651.jpg 100_6652.jpg

I was able to get the box to fit because I had taken the WG actuator off, used a plasma cutter to notch out the back side or the turbo mating side of the bracket and then just re bolted back to the turbo.. It puts the actuator rod at lil bit of a side angle but still works just fine. As for the green hose, it comes from the CDR canister and I plan on plumbing it into the side of the air box with a 90* fitting, will obviously have to remove the air box to do that... My thinking on that is, maybe a slight vacuum in the air box will be enough to draft out the crank case fumes and not have a major vacuum on it and pulling oil through it like being plumbed into the intake tubes in front of the turbo.
100_6653.jpg 100_6654.jpg

Can see the clearance for the side mounts.
100_6655.jpg 100_6656.jpg

Hope you guys enjoy..
Mike
