Getting ready to start my project !!!

Did you paint your aluminum, or is it that clean?

Won't be long.

Sorry, I hadn't answered ya yet. I paint all my aluminum upper / lower plenums, new or used... I hate seeing gnarly grimy build up on aluminum, so I prep them really well and paint them with DupliColor high temp aluminum paint. It stays cleaner for a longer time.

been searching in the pictures I saved, but could'n't find it yet, will dig deeper

BTW, here is the picture of a 6.5, block and valve covers red, timing chain housing aluminum and intake black http://maxxtorque.com/dieselcommunity/autumn-2008/best-ever-65-chevy-diesel-rebuild?showall=1

Wow!!! too

The block of my Blazer is already red. Time to powder coat... and my engine will probably look like that :D
there is a thread about that motor going on here right now.... i think it is 635's motor that went boom....

I went down to Peninsular today to pick up an intake adapter for my build, I met Mitch ( very awesome guy ), and had a very interesting, lengthy, in depth conversation with him, but will be another topic.

I think it's quite obvious that the Peninsular adapter is gonna have superior flow characteristics vs. the GM piece.

Actually that engine was painted Chevy orange. That particular engine, built by Jamie Avant at Diesel Depot, was supposed to be the real deal with all kinds of real trick stuff done to it. All that neat stuff and they used King Bearings and #7 went away and took out the crank. The bottom of the intake was painted with a heat reflecting paint while the top of the valley was painted with a heat retaining paint.

My new CKO HX40 showed up yesterday ... Yipee !!! This is the same exact turbo that "Robzombie" aka "Subclatter" used in his build and has had great success with.

The sellers name is: checkerflagturbo

I also finally put my engine back in my truck today too, gonna be a lil bit before it's ready to fire up though.

Very nice build!! don't know how I missed this one for so long?
Do you have the HO oil cooler? cause the fittings I sent are for the HO.

I'm assuming so... My truck is a 93, and it had a GM "506" replacement in it (dealership installed), which does have the bigger fittings and it had the OEM oil cooler lines running up to the oil cooler. Will find out for sure when I get to that point.

Mike

Nice build ^^
What kind of adapter do you use on your oil feed?

If I understand well your pictures, you had to cut hte A/C pipe to the accumulator and so sacrify A/C to install the HX40?

I think im about ready to dump the a/c on my truck, it looks ugly and is taking up to much room for my planned intake.

I too hope to switch to the hx40 this spring. Ditching the a/c should free up lots of room. Unreal how gm designed it to go over top of the motor and clutter it up, looks like shit.

I definitely do like AC, but I bought this truck non-running so I wasn't for sure if it worked. The AC condenser fins were severely flattened / blocking air flow from previous shade tree mechs. so that was no good to me also. I just decided to go ahead and remove it and it looks like there would be more room for a down pipe with the canister out of the way. I thought about leaving it though in case I may want to re-install it someday....

I got a oil feed adapter from Bruce "Racedaymechanic", I think it's a SAE to metric thread adapter, not for sure though.

I have had my crossover for a few days now, but waited 'til the rest of the exhaust showed up to take and post pics.

I was impressed with this kit, very nice tubing.

Maybe it's time now to get back on it..
