Getting ready to start my project !!!

I got a fitting today to plumb my cdr hose into the air box.. hopefully it works well.

All back together and installed.

My new Walbro lift pump from Leroy.. I however decided to go with push lock fittings and fuel line though.

I hope to get this lift pump installed this weekend if I have enough time and or ambition. Also is a pre-filter necessary to the lift pump.. ? or is the in tank sock filter sufficient.. ?

Mike

IMO, dig the tank sock out and put a pre filter on but like most people I'm gonna run as is until it gives me trouble.

I wonder if this will give you an "oiled filter" lol, new KNN oiling technique. (i know its not KNN in the box)

I like your set up.... ALOT

Matuva.. I could be wrong here, but my thinking was / is that in the air box there shouldn't be quite as much vacuum or draw on the vent, but maybe enough to pull the fumes and hopefully not any oil.. I see many that are plumbed right into the air filter ducting right in front of the turbo inlet.. I would think that there would be hella draft on it right there and would possibly pulling oil..

Just my thinking anyways

I would think it will work fine. Like you said there will be less vacuum through the filter and you dont have an old motor with loads of blow by

Updates? please

Interesting theory. Keep us updated please ;)

Gage is showing empty.. there WAS more then half tank in this thing.. unless somebody helped them selves, fuel has made it to filter manager. Glows aren't coming on and I'm not hearing the lift pump.

Fuel to injectors? Check your electrical conections, glad your finally getting there

Get some Fresh diesel fuel in there

Well we had to start diagnosing somewhere. Having some fuel is semi important.

Sounds like you have some electrical work to do. Did any critters have access to it?

I"ll have to dump 5 gallons of fuel in it and see if the gauge moves.. haven't cracked any injector lines to see if fuel is spitting yet.. extremely tired and frustrated, I wrench on junk all day long so it's hard to come home and do anymore wrenching / trouble shooting / diagnosing...

The fuel gauge is showing empty, the oil pressure gauge hasn't bumped up to show any pressure.. all new sensors, full of oil, full of coolant

It IS difficult to come home and continue working. But, you are so close. Take a couple days and hit it again. It's going to be something minor at this point.

Gauges could be ground but the IP should crack off with fuel shut off operating. Sounds like a possible miss wire problem or maybe the ignition isnt sending power (not sure on how it all works)

I haven't yet.. When I put the engine together, I filled the oil pump with oil and spun it, assembled the engine with plenty of assembly lube, engine is full of rotella, so I figured just rolling it over with the starter that it would self prime. I guess I'll try to prime the oiling system with a drill. Maybe it hasn't primed yet triggering the oil pressure sensor switch, causing the lift pump not to come on...

I also was doing some checking tonight, looking at a wiring diagram for the glow controller, I see that I don't have the "glow plug voltage sensor input" and the "glow plug indicator light" wires tied into the glow harness... I bought a fancy harness from Bruce and had cut the old glow terminal wires off.. Now I'll need to do a lil digging into the loom and fish out the wires I need and tie them in. That should hopefully fix the NON glow plug working issue.

Once I get this running, I'm half tempted to ditch the whole dumb electronic lift pump idea and just install a Holley mechanical pump back on the block...

Mike

From previously... I had to tie in a couple wires in the glow circuit (a voltage signal temp wire and the glow light in the dash) and then I primed the oil pump with a drill 1/4" drive extension and 8mm socket.. I then cranked the living piss out of it until fuel had reached everything and then crack the first 2 injector lines on the drivers side...

It would start, run rough, quit for a while and then was finally able to get it to run decently and smooth out, BUT I cannot get it to run below 1,500 rpm's.. If I let it try to idle, it just quits just below 1,500 rpm's. Not real sure what's going on yet, just got tired, hungry and cranky, so I gave up on it for the night.

However, it sounded good, seemed to rev really fast and seemed to have really crisp response.. I was happy with that. Now to just get the rest of the wrinkles ironed out.

Mike
