Dyno results and discussion

Mine wont be ready for a run until this summer so a few more months. Maybe sometime in may but that would be the earliest.

There is a B&D diesel shop about 25 miles from here. They dyno trucks all the time and even have their free dyno day once a year. I called them once about putting my truck on the dyno and they said it was a 100.00 Probably gone up since then but if anyone wants to contribute I'd put my truck on their dyno. I know the donation was 75.00 so I'd pay the difference and get er done. The engine is stock and never been opened up to my knowledge. Only things done are outside the block.

Yours would be interesting, the combination of the Heath tune and the *** turbo....LOL. (Been waiting to do that, makes me feel like an internet God). No offence Dennis, all in good fun. If we could run your truck and a truck with the ATT and Buddy's 6 banger, we could compare the tunes. I think Warwagon and Slim both have this combo.....step on up guys, lets have volunteers and suggestions. :hello:

I vote for turbonator to get on the rollers

we want to hit the rollers, and it will be this summer, but we are not quite ready.. we need to get our modded pump flow tested first, and it takes a while for us to even find a place to dyno... started looking a bit about a month ago, and nothing promising popped up right away.... being that we employ the "sanford & son" method, we cant find a place to dyno us for free...LOL

I also would vote for the "Sanford & son" brothers.. Both Jim and Jeff to get their build done and dynoed. I'm anxious to see what the outcome of their project engine with custom IP and homebrew custom Holset, actually very anxious.

It was not our intention to utilize dyno fund monies for our dyno's. We will dyno this year (hopefully a few times) to have our personal comparisons. Presently we are waiting on a new battery for the video camera. We could be ready to go in a week, still personally curious to have the ATT with the different tunes comparisons. We only got 1 vote however, you guys decide. One thing, just your suggestions will light a fire under us to find a dyno shop to accommodate us. The IP will get one more mod this week, a slight increase in the charge pressure and relax the delivery valve spring a bit. Immediately afterwards the IP comes off to be flow tested (gotta have them numbers...LOL). We have another turbo to test too, but that will not be for a couple of weeks yet. By the way, Jeff was asking if having a couple of pallets of blocks in the truck will skew the #'s very much ? Might as well work the truck if going to Montreal to just relax him on a treadmill.....

......and Mike, our builds are never really ever done.....always something else to add or to try. Anybody got a S10 to donate to a good cause??

you guys got my vote. you need to start a thread over here to let people know what all mods you've done to turbos, engines etc

My thoughts exactly for my truck, now that I'm back to work (doesn't leave me with much time), but do have the funds to dyno mine.. I have access to a few different Dyno's once my truck is finished, It will be a few more weeks yet though, getting ready to take the family on a vacation back out to Phoenix and Vegas..again.

As far as the pallets of block, I wouldn't think that would do much of any "skewing" on a dyno.. It wouldn't be any different then having a heavier vehicle vs a lighter vehicle, the dyno is just throwing some resistance on your drive train / engine and measuring power output. However I wouldn't try any fancy driving, hole shots, or wheelies.. LOL (I had a pallet of 4 x 12 retaining wall blocks in the back of my old 350 powered Astro van 3.42 locker and tried a posi whole shot from gravel to asphalt.. the rear end didn't like it)... ROFL

You've got my vote as well guys. Once some numbers start getting posted up, I think interest will increase and more will want to get on the rollers as well. Need an icebreaker and it would seem you guys are it.

We found a shop, only 2hrs away, just waiting on confirmation of date (we requested next Monday, 2 April), and pricing. They also have a spring dyno May 12, 2012. We will also be going then, with a few more changes and be able to compare now with then......do not know what we will have for #'s, but very curious just the same. As was requested, we will start a thread tonight, explaining what we have done to this motor, inside and out. Our builds are all documented on Diesel Place (6.2L section....LOL), but this will give us a chance to explain better, with lots of pics.....:tiphat:smokin:

The shop got back to us, this morning.....good to go for Monday 2 April. The rate is $150.00/hr in 1 hour blocks...LOL.
Being a mechanically injected truck and non-gated turbo, it is difficult to try different tunes. Just to say we do not have adjustments that can easily be done in that time frame. Maybe we will mix up some special injection juice to have a comparison between pure water and water/meth. If you guys still want to see us roll, we will pay the other half (with pleasure) and do the best we can. Still waiting on new camera battery, but should be here today or tomorrow. Now, more than ever, we look forward to their dyno day.....$40.00/3pulls or 15mins (more in the price range for cheap guys like us).

He suggested to bring another truck (we always negotiate), so if any of you guys are interested in coming up to see us and doing a run, we will supply coffee and donuts.....LOL. Should have 1/2 hour to 45mins left after we pull.....LOL. He has a Dodge pulling truck, maybe he will throw it on....

Haha only a 7 hour drive for me here.... maybe i'll come up for some baseline NA 6.2 numbers lol

Im really excited to see you guys cross, you have a nice amount of mods right now that wont break the bank for someone to replicate.

I would think that you could be able to run 2 different turbos in that time frame if you have 2 ready....

we are not down-pipe friendly for that yet.... the down-pipe on the truck is custom made for the H1C, for a waste gated model it needs to move back 1"... started a 3" universal down pipe today that will be made out of nissan pathfinder running boards... all nice heavier than exhaust pipe mandrel bent....LOL

So we are confirmed on the dyno for the second of April, we have decided it is simplest to run as we are........discussed the possibility of two pulls the 12th of May, with a turbo change between the two....LOL.
