Coolant leak is back, Plus oil sludge! 88GMCtruck's 1999 K2500 L65 = more problems.

ATT and be done with it, If and when funds permit, of course.......JMO.....But there's not anyone complaining after they've replaced there GMx.

Money is tight, but the rest of the rebuild seemingly went well. I'm running a few things to see if I can manage to justify an ATT and be done with it.

I get my paycheck next week, and was paid for some parts I bought a few weeks ago for Devin's father... so I might just spring for one.

Awesome. I'm looking foward to ATT results with a factory progaming.

I've been following the thread, good work as aways. Wish I was that thorough in my work.

It idles fine. Turbo is screwed, still waiting for the ATT to show up. Hasn't shipped yet, and have no idea when it'll get here. I'm going to give Patrick a call tomorrow and see if there is any news on when it'll get here.

I think I got mine in about a week to 10 days, this is across the border too.

I did a bit of email communication today, looks like I'll be upping the shipping to 2-day so it will be here Saturday.

Yesterday I did let it idle for about an hour, everything seemed good on a second round of idle. Can't wait to drive it again.

I'm stoked, it's like waiting for christmas. I'm going to build a boost fooler so the PCM doesn't throw the high boost code and de-fuel.

I couldn't justify getting another GM8 for their price (even used) VS an ATT which was an upgrade i wanted anyway.

I hear ya.

My gm8 came with the truck. The PO replaced it just before I bought it...

Youre not likely to pop an overboost code. You'll not generate as much boost as the GM8 would with the wastegate and small exhaust housing. You may hit 10psi but the stock fueling drops quickly after 1800rpm, so it wont hold boost as well as an aftermarket program with both increased and sustained fueling.

Its a simple potentiometer though, so will allow you to mess with it should the need arise.

People actually have more issues with underboost using the ATT, when an aftermarket tune may have arbitrarily incerased the boost curve to 10psi from the get go, and thats not a natural boost level when cruising at low fuel rates. Although the boost code can be disabled all together, but I have seen and I only increase the error tolerance to about 4psi vice 2psi from the defined boost curve.

Ah. it was mentioned to me that the stock program would likely throw a code when pulling a long hill with the trailer.

I'll give it a shot without it first, see if it makes a difference.

Well.

Last night I pulled the old turbo off.... so 8am this morning, the ATT was at the post office. Unpacked the gigantic thing and started putting it together. After going through everything, the only stubborn part I had to deal with was my exhaust. I couldn't get the flange lined up to the turbo down pipe. Instructions mentioned loosening the exhaust downpipe, which would have easily solved the problem, but no... My exhaust is welded from stem to stern. So I had to loosen EVERY hanger on the frame of the truck and then use a floor jack to rotate it properly to meet up with the turbo. That took about 2 hours. The turbo itself was quite a quick install.

So, I started the truck to warm the turbo up. :D I can say from the initial run of the truck, the exhaust is totally different. It's considerably deeper, and the turbo doesn't whistle like my gm8 did. Honestly it sounds like a 454 with a turbine whoosh. Now it's cooling off to season it, then the real fun begins. I will be reporting back once I break the new gaskets and the turbo in some more.

Thanks Patrick (Veg_out/Walking J) and Dennis (Slim Shady) for helping me get this here in time for the move!

I have trouble lining the downpipe up with either turbo, done it several times. Although its partly becuase passenger motor mount is sagging a lot.

Best of luck on the maiden voyage and your move.

Your Rig is ROCK Solid now and you should have a substantial amount of piece of mind, for this or any other long haul trips.....Enjoy it!.........You deserve it!......You've done a great job and repaired every issue methodically, without taking any shortcuts, again superb job with everything David.

FWIW, I really love the air bags and the on board air with accessories.

FWIW and to others, taking the passenger side wheelwell out takes about 5 mins with an air ratchet and then it's much ,much easier if you did'nt have it out already from the HG job
