Block heater question

Also can I put dielectric grease or something similar on the element and to help prevent corrosion?
A couple of styles of wire brushes, Contact cleaner / electronic cleaner, Baking soda and water. I use a lot of Kopr Kote. You can put some in the female and male. Be careful to keep it contained so you don't get any cross pollination going on.

Dialectic grease can be problematic if it gets in the way of a connection. One guy slathered his battery connectors up so much he didn't have enough juice to run. Cleaned all the grease off and started like a champ

Yes, that is a good spot for dielectric grease. Copper coat conducts, and can give you a junction between poles. The grease should be light coat, just to stop oxygen contact. Problems with dielectric is new to me. Required use on a lot of electrical uses when I was a pro sparky.

Clean the element contacts with brake cleaner, brass brush, just about anything you have on hand. My rule is the more toxic the better it probably cleans-haha. Just be careful of your eyes under there. That's when I rally love the ISI poly cleaner

I ordered the replacement cord from Amazon for about $17 last night. Just for fun earlier today I thought I'd check Napa, it was $13.50 on sale. Score. [emoji41]

I smear a lot of dialectic outside the connections to keep air from getting in. But on the actual connectors I use Kopr Kote to help keep the connectors from corroding.

I also use No-ox and connection grease. I have several tubes of connection grease if anybody wants any. I bought a case once and have no use for that quantity. I think I've used, maybe 2 tubes. _ they are good sized tubes also. Squeeze tubes like Permatex comes in, only quite a bit bigger. Maybe 4x the size

Jr in your original post it says $10, in the quote it says $12. Either sounds fine. :)

I had $12 first and then thought that was to much so I edited the price. I'm not really trying to get any big money out of this. Mostly just share it around without it costing me anything. If somebody stopped by, I would just give them a tube.

I have to drive 15 miles round trip to get to the post office so I just want enough to cover time and trouble.
