Block heater question

It burns diesel to heat your coolant and circulates. From the guys I've talked to that have them they do a far better job, faster. About 15 to 20 minutes. Remote start so you can start it from your job or where ever and your vehicle will be warm when you get there. No plug in.

There are a couple of different brands. Greg at lubricationspecialist.com sells Espar.

I'm sure there are other brands as well

Vendor on this site "Lubrication Specialists" sells the Espar system I bought my cabin heater from him. These diesels heaters use very little fuel and crazy low electrical power to operate...........

Got 2 of these timers on clearance at for $20. A little over kill but for the price. [emoji3]

I figured since this thread has drifted into a general discussion on engine heating, I was hoping it would be OK to slightly post jack. :)

What does everyone recommend for stock replacement block heaters? I was told the Kats brand is not great. What about Zerostart by Phillips/Temro?

Or should I just get one from GM?

Thanks!

I've used most and didn't have any issues with any of them. Just make sure you use anti-ox, copper kote, or similar on the plug

Phillips/Temro block and circulating heaters used for our generators 24/7, last about 3 to 5 years. They are kept at 130f, on mains failure units have to start/go to 1800rpm and transfers to full load in under 3 seconds.
