ATT, hood IC or GL4 ?

I don't want to set up a WM setup and may look into a intercooler. I know you removed yours but was it hurting power or did you find it's not needed most of the time?

With ATT I've found it's not needed, power wasn't hurt with the IC just defied my logic that a IC is an impediment to flow at the end of the day, we go with better flowing filters, discuss port & polish, then install something like an IC kinda counter intuitive, the losses are manageable, so it becomes an argument do I want to lose a little performance, or fill a water jug, reason I have not sold my IC yet is because I just don't know the correct answer for the ATT.

New found friend on here will soon be dyno testing the ATT with WMI-Pane-Nos and without, so we should have some dyno data in not too distant future hopefully.

No I got tagged in June, 78 in 65 in Va, I did not know entire state of Va was 65 mph on interstate, had passed thru some construction thought that was why the low speed, got lucky as I had just come off of 85 mph about a mile earlier.

111 is my "warp speed" setting for the burb for now, when I grab data sets, I take at 5 mph increments until I hit max speed 100% engine load on the burb it's 111, last time I maxed the truck out it was 119 mph, but that was before FTB-ATT and a few other mods, I haven't really had a "safe place" with traffic to "open up" the truck fully to know what it will do now.
There was a nice open stretch on I84 last night. I buried the speedo at 100+ on the Tahoe and it was effortless to get there.

I have absolutely no topend anymore on my truck. My speedo acts up even with new speed sensors, only will read up to 60 mph, I can go a little faster than that, but if I open the throttle too much it falls on it's face and I'm still not keeping up with the faster traffic, so I know Im not doing even 75. I believe the problem I've been experiencing (replaced lift pump per earlier post) has to do with overboost defueling. I normally ruin around ten lbs, but any throttle gets me 13 lbs with an almost instantaneous cutout. Power cuts off, needle drops to ten then comes on again. If I hold the throttle there it will keep doing it, just almost shuts off at 13 lbs. Today I was pulling my landscape trailer with two mowers down the highway, didn't want to get much over 60, any touch of the throttle cause boost to spin up and the truck to puke.
I'm wondering, is it computer defueling because of overboost, or computer defueling because of high IATs? I really could use some more nuts in this truck. Lost all my topend power.

yep, that's definitely on my list. Not sure what's changed but it does seem too high now. Weird how today I ran down the same highway without the trailer and while I didn't try to get going that fast, it was just idling along and pulling 5-7 lbs. Wouldn't think the trailer would give me that much resistance-maybe should check the tires again.
Sorry for the hijack.

Gotta love 84 for open stretches....just watch out for the 55mph zones. Thatll ruin your day very quick. I got nailed for 78 in a 55 with my 96'. And that was just the cop giving me a break, idk what he actually clocked me at :rolleyes5:

With the 3:42 gearing it dosent take much to build top end. I can cruise at 80mph like nothing, and no screaming rpms either

FWIW, when truck was new (to me) and stock I could get 105 out of it.

Perhaps summer weather is IATing you or overboost defueling? Either way, a Heath program is in order IMO. I was pulling 11boost up a grade on the MassPike today just doing 65. I'm rare to see 9-10 although as of late its become pretty common doing 65 on highways.

I have my TM set at 2 1/4" which is 1/4" on the conservative side. Stock program. Roughly 9500lbs as unaerodynamic as it gets.

Has no one still got any dyno results on the ATT yet? Been kind of a long time now. I'm saving my pennies, I think the ATT will be first before GL4. I know the ATT will help me where my truck really struggles, which is hauling the camper up the mountains, but since that's only a handful of times a year, what other benefit might I see? I know people have said increased fuel mileage, but how is the power with an empty truck? If I hauled heavy every day it would make it a lot more easy to justify the purchase, but I don't. If I got some more seat of the pants out of it empty, that would help push me toward the ATT a little more I think.

Well since dynos cost time & money it hasn't been on my high priority list, I missed a couple of opportunities when I had the money but not the time, now I have neither :D , I think there are 20 ATT's installed now, all who have installed it report more grunt & better mpg, I have (2) of those ATTs one on a truck and other on my burb, ATT & GLE or HP4 work well with the ATT, 1 member is beta testing a modified Heath program tailored closer to the way the ATT makes boost, not that current Heath reflashed/chips don't work, but since those were tuned exactly for the way the GM-X turbos build boost there IMO are some tweaks in the program that would enhance ATT even more.

DD,
I didn't read the entire thread but if someone didn't say it already you could do a boost fooler. Cheap alternative to a reflash until you get the bucks.

You don't need a boost fooler with the ATT? The turbo does fine with a stock chip better with a reflash. The ATT works: the only real must for an ATT turbo is a free flowing exhaust, factory exhaust with cat may not be optimal with the ATT.

I did a boost fooler years ago, I don't think it works. I can still defuel and I can still set SES lights just by pushing a little too hard on the highway.

I do have free flowing exhaust, it's a new Diamondeye with no cat and the muffler mounted backwards.

I was telling the wife today how I wanted to do the ATT and she seemed to think it sounds like a better idea than buying a duramax truck that I can't afford, so I'm probably going to order one. Is there a long wait time? I'm trying to plan a couple of weekend camping trips soon and I'd love to have it done in time.

Where should I order from? I saw WalkingJ has them but the price went up.

Lastly, I was going to do the ATT before the gl-4 anyway, so maybe by waiting Heath will have something later more suited to the ATT trucks.

The price after the DTR discount is the same, pm me and we can get you set up with one. I know you will like it.

Under certain conditions a boost fooler may come into play. I had an overboost code stored that I found after making some 12psi boosted runs.

Dan when you get the Att let me know if you want a hand with the install.

thanks! I just placed the order. Did you find it difficult or fairly easy to do? What I've read seems pretty straightforward, but I'll admit I'm a little leery about the turbo bolts themselves. I was going to pull the turbo last year when I did the injectors, but I was afraid the bolts were going to break so I gave up and did the injectors the busted knuckle way.
I know soaking the bolts for a few days with PB is usually a good idea, but I drive it everyday so it'll probably just keep burning it off.

How do you like yours so far?

If the studs break it won't matter, you get new studs and nuts with the turbo, none of mine broke anyways.

Do yourself a favor, remove the pass side wheel & inner fender, makes life so much simpler, while you are reworking your intake manifold let studs be soaking with PB blaster
