ATT & FRC-10 Install

Ok I forgot yesterday was Father's Day, and it was my first as a father so I was kinda busy.. Anyways, to the guy that said he feels sorry for me, don't. I'm satisfied, it is much better than stock. Right now I'm just getting fuel at the wrong time and not enough where I need it, and the reason my egt's are so high is cause I'm SMOKING like a train, especially when I floor it from a stop. My boost is 11psi max and I topped my egt's off at 1300 and they don't really wanna go higher than that. So I'm good. I just need a retune. I will let y'all know how it goes. But I put my stock chip in and all the smoke and high egt's went away. SO ITS NOT THE TURBO, it's the tune. Pics won't upload right now. Prolly too big coming straight from the iphone5 camera roll. I will upload them and a few vids when I get home.

Some of us are wondering why that comment was made. Like you said, a reflash and you''ll be fine. Modifications will require tweaking, then it will be awesome. I had a few minor issues with mine like the fitting at the turbo weaping and finding fittings to get the cdr line under the intake hose so it would'nt rub the hood insulation. Keep up the positive attitude

Can't have anything but a good attitude man. Some people expect too much and that's why they get disgruntled and angry. 6.5 ain't a duramax by any means, but it does the job I need it to do and that's gettin me from home to work and back, and weekend play. It has loads more power than a 5.7 vortec, that's all I care about, showin up all the 5.7's around here. Like I said it aint a duramax, my dad has a LMM and my truck will NEVER be able to run with that one. MAYBE just maybe a lb7. But that's not what I expect from this truck. It does everything I need it to do. And it's paid off! Amen

I still am waiting for a definitive answer from Monarkman.

I wouldn't worry too much about that character... He's too gangster for us. And did you see the dumbass robot chicken quote in his sig? Dudes a looooser lol maybe that will provoke us an answer

Well played haha and it just makes me kind of pissed whenever a turbocharger swap is brought up and somebody has to degrade the swap of it because it wasn't what they would have done. I frankly don't care what it is as long as it isn't stock. I'm tired of all the hassle people try to give about this turbocharger or that turbocharger. I see he is running an HX-40. More power to him. I hope it worked for him. I do. You simply chose to go another route, and that's great. I am sure you will like it with a correct tune. I just feel peoples choices should be respected.

Then again, maybe I'm the asshole haha It is hard to make improvements in the 6.5L world when people act like that instead of supporting. Remarks like that remind me of how Cummin's owners act. Not all. But more often than not. Shit, anybody who has a diesel should at least appriciate the 6.5L for running on compression ignition. Diesel Power folks!

I feel bad for you OP. I feel bad for the people involved every time I see one of these threads.

You shouldn't. I'll tell you what you should feel bad about: Closed minded trolls like you cost me a bunch of fuel money by stomping any information about better turbo's for as long as you could. The high EGT myth I get sick of reading about.

Finally when the evidence was overwhelming you had to admit GM screwed the pooch with the factory turbo.

As it is the ATT and HX40II generate the same HP on the rollers with the ATT using ~10PSI less boost.

I will encourage the trolls with "My Turbo is bigger than your Turbo!" :hihi:

Yes, that is awesome. Glad I didn't get the other turbo now lol.

On a different note, I figured out what the noise was that I heard... I was in such a hurry to drive this thing the other night, I forgot to... Bleed the air out of the cooling system :dot:
So the noise I heard was the radiator cap gettin blown off lol..

As promised heres some pics. I had to resize them. Sorry for the wait guys!
F intake (thanks Burning Oil)

Thanks guys for all your help.

To clarify for anyone other than the subscribers to this thread: this turbo is a 100% improvement over stock. I can literally hear the freed horsepower buckin out the tailpipe from the so-much-less restrictive exhaust housing. I love loud trucks, I've grown up around mud racing big blocks with open headers. I love the way my exhaust sounds now, sounds like I really have 4" exhaust lol and sounds like it wants to be deeper than what it is, so now I'm thinking 5" from the cab back would sound excellent. I would recommend this turbo to anyone with a 6.5l.

I even have a friend that owns a 93' 7.3l idi and a 91' 12v cummins single cab flatbed work truck and he asked me if this turbo would work for him, I told him I would imagine so but I wasn't for sure. He didn't even ride in the truck, I pulled him out of a mud hole Sunday night on our huntin lease. Dumbass buried a crew cab f250 w/ 35's up to the doors and I pulled him out with one good yank and tug, never let up. Needless to say he was impressed, and so was I.

Anyways, I put the stock chip in, all the smoke went away and my egt's won't go over 1100. Boost psi @ 7lbs WOT. And guys when I'm measuring boost and egt's don't think I'm just doing it in spurts. I'm talkin 0-80mph (sometimes faster) full throttle runs.

So now I KNOW FOR A FACT IT IS THE TUNE. I have gotten in touch with joe about the tune for ATT, I will let you guys know how that goes.

Don't forget I still need to install my walbro. Wife's been givin me a hard time about spending the whole 12hr day of Saturday outside sweating my ass off while she was inside with our son, who is getting to be a little needy. So I've kinda been in the doghouse but not tooo bad. Might try and get away with it tomorrow. How long does it take? All I need besides what u sent me Leroy is 3/8" fuel line and a way to mount it right?

Again thanks guys, sorry about the ramble lol

I used Unistrut (love the stuff) Here a a couple pics to get the concept. You can do whatever though.
Did you get the LP bypass fittings also?

Shows how fittings look.
Lift pump bypass and fsu 010.jpg
Bracket might need to stand off frame to clear obsticles?

New and old LP

Used existing holes or bolts in frame.

Unistrut is about $15 for 10ft and Lowes.
You'll need clamps, diesel rated hose maybe a 1/4" st ell for top fitting on pump and a bracket.
To prime the pump the first time you can loosen air bleed on FFM then stuff a rag into filler neck of tank to make a seal then blow light air pressure right though the rag and in to force fuel up to air bleed. Once you know you have fuel at the pump turn it on (method may vary)
and bleed rest of air out of FFM. using the compressed air trick You could do it all in one step if you have a buddy to close the bleed valve on FFM.

Thanks for the pics Leroy that will help alot. Yes I got the lp bypass fittings. Think I'm gonna use that unistrut if I can find it. Or something similar. What's that stuff Made for? It will help alot when I ask about it tomorrow at my local ace hardware. Seems easy enough. Thanks for the compressed air tip. One more question, I probably need to do the ops relay mod as well don't i? If I'm not mistaken.. It may have already been done by a previous owner. There is a relay on my drivers side firewall close to the baro sensor. Does anyone know what this does? I will get a picture of it tomorrow if necessary. Thanks again

Look in electical. Made for hanging plumbing and conduit overhead among other things.

As there is silence from Monarkman, just chalking this up to a hater comment (as others called-out). Run the ATT and love it.

I even have a friend that owns a 93' 7.3l idi and a 91' 12v cummins single cab flatbed work truck and he asked me if this turbo would work for him . . .

OT, but . . . For the 7.3 idi (OBS), steer your buddy to the Dominator 66 (D-66) or van turbo (IIRC Garrett with 1.15 A/R) as they are probably drop-in; just do a little research on which characteristics work best for the desired use.
