It's been awhile.....
Been collecting a few parts and doing some junkyard runs.... Finally got a chance to work on this beast a bit!
Few parts collected for my trucks and a friend's truck
Did a bit of wiring cleanup.... Adding dioides to map lights to work with dome and independant
Harness built. Autodim, Compass & Temp Mirror, S-series trip computer, Homelink all installed in pickup console with LED lights.
Added a temp sensor inside the cab (trip computer has temp display too, no use in having two exterior temps readouts)
Working on stuff!

Steering wheel audio controls installed
I'm one of few who's excited to see this on the display!
I didn't snap any pictures but I picked up a perfect OEM GMC grille in black for $40 at the pick-n-pull.... Fits better than the re-pop and looks better since it's not raw plastic.
Also, picked this neutral crewcab rear seat up for $80. It was REALLY dirty but came out decent with a pressure washer, simple green and mineral spirits. It'll be going in Dad's 75 Silverado.

Been working a ton but tinkering with the truck when I have time. The stereo had lots of lights out in it, and the replacement CD player I picked up was no better. Decided it was time to fix it for ever with LEDs. Which also meant doing the entire dash and doors as well. Stereo took about 2 hours considering they are soldiered in. I used cool white LEDs throughout and the blue coating in the HVAC stereo and cluster create a light blue color that I quite like.

Few weeks ago I replaced the fuel pump with a new delco unit. zip off the bed bolts, fuel neck, ground straps and unplug the lights and off she comes.
While the bed was off the front repair of the forward brace was welded. The PO had a camper with bed mounted brackets. The camper ripped both of the braces off the frame, and pulled all the spot welds through the bed floor. Frame mounted camper brackets are the only thing to use, ever.
Also did a little forward lighting upgrade. With the help of my good friend 83GMCK2500, we removed the OEM harnesses, dissected the BS headlight wiring, and re-created them using all 12-gauge wiring. During this time wiring for fog lights and driving lights were added. Used 4 heavy duty Bosch relays with weatherpack connectors to power the circuits, lowbeam, highbeam, driving and fog lights. The highbeam switch will trigger low, high and driving lights for a 6-hi combination. The fogs are independently switched so effectively you can have 8-hi. Everything is fully soldiered and weatherproofed.

During the re-installation I mounted the HID ballast to the headlight brackets
And created these nifty support brackets that help keep the grille shell pulled back to the core support in the lower corners. The earlier grilles (88-93) have a bracket here, to this day I do not understand why GM didn't add one in the later models. It seems like almost all the grilles fit horribly in the lower corners, factory or aftermarket.

so, what did it take to install the steering wheel audio? was the harness already in the truck? and I thought you had and aftermarket cd player?

These were only in S-series and GMT800 denali/escalades. I did a writeup on it looooong ago.

A little update!
The truck still has the hot start issue, and has a rough idle. After many failed attempts to contact the seller of my injectors, I bought another set which (to my mistake) were too big and rendered the truck way-over fueling itself and barely running. So, it was down for a week. During this time the 88 was removed from storage (mostly just for the heck of it) but during that time I did pick up this side project for a co-worker. 16' trailer I'm doing some wiring and misc on it.
Anyway, back to the dually.
Took the damned intake off a 3rd time.... 3rd set of injectors i've installed. This time I got the bosch type III injectors. They cleared up the hesitation and the truck runs great....
BUT THE DAMNED THING STILL HAS THE HARD WARM START.
It has to be something else as this is the second set of injectors, new FPR, fuel filter, fuel pump, new coil, ignition module, cap, rotor, wires and plugs, and a new coolant temp sensor. I need to get my fuel pressure gauge back from my father and I have purchased an OBD2 scanner and am going to start checking sensors as well. It has to be something simple.
Moving on.....
Anyone see these before?
Factory GM cablight LED inserts. They are BRIGHT! I found a good deal on them and ended up with a few extra sets, I'll be selling some soon. They are a huge must for smoked cab lenses....
Here is the driver's outer 2 with lenses off, farthest out with GM insert, next in was 5 SMD amber LED drop-in. These LEDs are brighter than the original 194 bulbs were.
Here is a head on shot with the driver's outer 2 lights with the GM inserts and lenses back on. The difference is astonishing. Prior to this in daylight, my cab lights weren't even visible.
Also, made a quick trip to the junkyard, while looking in some GMT400s for dash switches and sunvisors, I happened across this gem in a 1995 suburban of all things! $38 later, I threw the LEDs in it, put my Odometer in, and blacked out the "PRND321" and "Apply Brake to Shift From Park" markings.
I also pulled a driver's side window module from an F-body camaro and wired it to the passenger door. This allows a really cool feature of auto down. I need to source a couple extras for the rear windows as well. 4 Simple connections and away we go.

Thats cool. Ive been wanting to do something like that. Can you get auto up also? I was thinking of using the switches from something like a Nissan Titan or ???

You could easily do auto up with an additional module, possibly some creative relay wiring and one module.
