6.5TD coughing and stalling ?!?!?!?!?!?

I just got done with a bout of stalling with my truck.

After replacing the fuel pump, it started to buck and wanted to stall.

I check the filter and found air in it. Bled the air and went down the road. Later, it actually stalled this time. Checked and found air in the filter again.

Thinking I pinched the o ring, I slid under the truck to replace it. Only to find the fuel line rusted and wet with fuel near the tank.

Replaced the line, bleed the air, runs like a charm and no more air in the filter after driving down the road.

BTW, My PMD has been on the intake for 2 years I've owned it and probably a few years before I got it. (exception rather than norm) Rough running or stalling isn't always the PMD. Look at the simple things first.

Yes, the first time it started to buck, I thought the PMD had given up the ghost. Until I checked the easy things, like bleed the fuel filter.

2 stall modes, bucking/without shutdown is fuel delivery issue, lift-OPS-snotthy tank sock etc., stall and won't restart is driver-ign-wires-electrical issue, I've never had a no start due to bad lift, unless other issues-air leak- or a just changed fuel filt that could not be primed. Remember healthy IP will pull it's own fuel.

All simple stuff needs to be checked 1st, want highest confidence it isn't PMD go with the Heath or as some of us will call it a Health relocator. 5yrs going storng on mine, vs a best of 1 yr on my other vendor solutions.

Sounds like the problems Im having. The good thing is parts are on the way! ):h

1 question can I disconnect the pmd that on the pump with out taking anything apart?

You should be able to reuse the upper plenium gasket. If it looks too ragged it is available at Napa.

It's fun getting the PMD unplugged with the dual thermostat setup but is possible. You might want to remove the upper radiator hose.

Hey Mike; are you re-sizing your pics before you attach them?

If so, may I suggest you leave your pictures at about 640x480 before you attach them; those little guys are too hard to see. When we hover over them, they should blow up to original size... your Blow-ups are the same size as your thumbnails... 150x113

I didn't do a thing i snap with my phone sent them to my e-mail saved them to the comp n up loaded them. if you can resize them please do i hurried when i loaded them just righted and "save as"ed them i should have loaded them properly :mad2: sorry:rolleyes5:

Mike

I think my $10 Harness wll work and last just fine tho yes it ain't as nice looking as the $40 PMD harness but i figure i could replace mine twice n still be ahead. . .

Ah, didn't realize they were from your phone... that might be all we get then. Sorry.

The job looks nice (what I can see of it :)). Keep us posted on how everything works out for ya.

Normally i would say thats true but if i would have saved them the right way they would be huge like 750% of what they are now. Normally i run into issues of them being to large so by skipping a step i save the thumb nail sized photo instead of the whole file.

Anywho you should be able to see enough to figures what was done and how it was done.
May get around to Repairing them photos later on for you. . .

Wrong type of silicone/sealant.

Tried that crap before - didn't last.

Tear it off and use black RTV. Make sure you RTV the RTV screw hole tops as well....

You could or should probably use regular old window or counter/shower caulk if going to change it at all. Its not something everyone has laying around though like we all have a tube of RTV.

RTV silicone, (I like the red) if you let it cure fully works, or if they don't have in stock it's a simple enough gasket to maket from sheet gasket material Long thin screwdriver to undo the PMD harness clip and needle-nose pliers, another reason to remote mount the driver a PITA when truck is dead on side of road too hot to get off the side of the IP , and major surgery on a dual stat setup

Actually that Tube did say "RVT" for one second of all i don't care how it lasts next malfunction this truck has i'll be crushing it Cut and dried plain and simple.

So more than likly that "WRONG COLOR" RVT will still be in like new shape when the fire from the torch splits that truck in half.

But thanks for the help anyhow:D:thumbsup:
